I mostly PuG and am a big defender of PUGs and am sympathetic to the newbie population over all, as they are the key to MWO growing and thriving.
I understand that this isn't the most accessible game, the learning curve is pretty steep, there are no tutorials, the trial mechs are death traps, etc. People are going to play pretty awfully for their first few dozen matches, I get that and I expect it.
Today however I witnessed an ECM Atlas literally charge straight from the starting point over the ridge line on the winter map, run in circles for 20 seconds and rather predictably die horribly. Even more impressive, he also managed to do 0 damage... in an Atlas.
What I find perplexing here is, that's an 11m c-bill Mech. I mean, I expect idiocy from people in trial mechs and some of the cheaper options, but a D-DC? You would have had to play a lot of matches to buy that, even with the cadet bonus, we are talking what? 50+ matches, assuming they actually won a few of them. How could you play that many matches and learned so little?
Can Someone Please Explain To Me...

Next time when you log into the game please read aloud what the Big Blue button in the lower middle of your screen says please.

I think he was referring to purchasing mc. It's possible to use real world money to purchase expensive mechs such as the ddc atlas. That would explain how a terrible pilot could end up in one.

Could be they had a bug and just decided to do that instead of Alt + D4'ing. Could be they just wanted to farm, rush in and die, so at least they didn't deny someone of the kill. Could be they had horrible internet connection, rushed in, went in circles and died. Just a few quick thoughts.

Maybe he disconnected while turning? But seriosly many pilots tend to evolve bad habbits in PUG. Problem is, often the PUGs don't see the big fat ECM D-DC mech walking directly towards them. So the unskilled ECM pilots think they have a cloaking device and stomp in overconfident.

Ah, hadn't considered that. Being a founder, I dont really ever think about MC. Kinda forgot you could just buy your way to an Assault day 1.

Maybe was me ... before the 5 feb patch if i was bugged with 4 fps (0.5 in my rig) or with blocky text i would drive my mech to draw enemy fire instead of disconnecting at start position .

Disconnect, high ping, FPS bug, freeze (the irony), bored player, farmer, failed hack, angry player, script testing...
So many options, just pick one.
