Tired of light mechs running circles around and ripping you to shreads? and what if there are more than 1. There you are, just minding your own business raining death upon the enemy, in that BIG Atlas, and along comes 2 or 3 lights. and then your dead!
Well, I may not be the best out there at laying the smack down on light mechs, but ive learned a few things.

1 They are fast, you are not, when shooting at them, lead your cross by a good margin before you shoot.

2 always leave your mech equiped with short range fast recycling weapons. Use of SRMS and LBX 10 also work nicely. That missle boat you use might seem cool. but it has no weapons when those little buggers get near you.

3 Use your friends, as you are being circled, get them to shoot for you.

4 get your back to a wall. Its better than lots of rear armor. and it forces them to give you more shots at them.

5 your getting swarmed, but friends are near by, dont try to run away from all that combat, right str8 for your friends, as they lights chase you, they often line up for others to shoot with ease.

Not every strategy works every time, it depends on how the battle is going, and who is piloting the light mech. But lets hear from other light hunters, whats your strategy?

If you are in an atlas DC, have three srm streaks, they do a nice job in slowing down those lights.

It is easier to target lights going in reverse then charging them, also it is important to be patient, and wait for the good shot. Sometimes legging them is the easiest way to take them down, running in to them and letting collision damage take them down works too.

It became pretty easy to cut of a leg from a raven with a dual AC20....

Aim for the legs, as ur able to hit them at the moment pretty well...

Speaking as a Spider pilot I can tell you the easiest way, short of being a SSRM commando/raven, is to leg the bug mech. We have less armor there than on our centers, and even though most of us run XLs, the sides are hard to aim for at high speeds.
If you're fighting a good spider pilot, they will be jumping around a lot, causing you to miss or get less damage on them. There is about a two second window when a spider lands from a long jump where it is going at a lower speed than normal. This is the perfect time to hit the spider with your direct fire weapons.
If you're facing a good spider pilot, the only thing that will save you is good aim and patience.

Pretty much this. Aim for the legs it's really funny the ammount of people that don't put much leg armor, all mech weights are guilty of this my self included.

Protip: You get much more salvage if you only destroy the legs.

Lag, questionable hit boxes, and Lights running into Assaults and Heavies with no fear of getting knocked over is what people are having a hard time with.

They fixed a serious amount of the lag. You can now shoot what you aim at. So if you are still missing you can no longer claim it is lag. Sorry to break the news to you... you can't shoot.

Don't be afraid of the lights circling you. Be afraid of the ones capping your base. They have been known to make grown men cry out in despair. :D

LIES! LIES! LIES!

We all know Lights can't hurt you I mean us, us I totally said US!

Just ignore them, our superior armor means they cant even do any damage, and will just go away. not even worth shooting at, don't bother wasting ammo/heat on em, probably get bored and just go home to cry, light mechs are COMPLETELY HARMLESS.

Yep totally the best way to deal with em is to just ignore em...... can't hurt a fly......

Don't mind me gonna go move my Jenner, its double parked under a Stalker.

some ppl with higher ping like me still have to lead shots especially with lasers. ballistics and missiles seem to register more when i see it hit. also if the enemy light has variable ping they teleport all over the place on my screen which makes them really damn hard to hit.

last i checked weapons fire is still server authoritive, so its where the server thinks your shooting, not whats on your screen. I'm still registering zero damage for turning light mechs bright orange with laser fire, and i still register hits when shooting thin air in front of them. they did not magically fix lag on the internet.

Ballistics are still weird as well.

With light mechs its more about pot luck and if they decide to run in a straight line either directly towards or away from you. Only people saying its fine are those with <50ms ping or so who none of these issues actually affect.

Chain fire if you can. If you miss with an alpha, it's a costly miss

I used to fear light mechs. Then I took a break, PGI did something about the ridonkulous lag armor, and now I lol them pretty regularly with AC/PPC. Circle strafing a fatlas makes a very appealing target for the K2 up the street.

Leg? Me just go for the eyes & kill them with one volley rather than wasting ammo going for the legs.
