The VTR-9K Victor is a variant made using lost Star League technology. The 9K replaces the Autocannon/20 with a Gauss Rifle which can do serious damage at much greater ranges. The 'Mech also carries two Medium Pulse Lasers and a SRM-4 launcher for close combat. In order to make these changes possible, the 9K is built with an all-new Endo Steel chassis. With the weight saved the 'Mech is able to carry an additional ton of armor.
It looks like the tough times for Independence Weaponry following their main factory's capture by the Draconis Combine on Quentin in 3039 have not yet completely gone away. They seem to be having difficulties in transferring manufacturing responsibilities to their other factories, as the Draconis Combine does not allow the export of military equipment.

Nay, it's not Victor. News flash had nothing to do with announcements. We were told about 85 tons and we have already 80-tonner. I pretty convinced it will be a walking egg. Well, beautiful, tough, polyhedral walking egg after FD's work on it.
