Seriously, why didn't EG7 & PGI coordinate this release date announcement better? It looks extremely unprofessional when you announce it on the main Mechwarrior website over 8 hours after the press release dropped.
Edit:
And holy crap, you STILL haven't announced this on the official mw5mercs.com website. Who's running things there?!?

(I'm currently sitting on the fence for MW5 on GOG/Steam; if below four (4) ingame mechs can be awarded then I'll jump at MW5 pre-order!):
Catapult CPLT-C2(S) for MWO in-game
Warhammer WHM-9D(S) for MWO in-game
Marauder MAD-9M(S) for MWO in-game
King Crab KGC-001(S) for MWO in-game

If they give those mechs to folks who pre-order now (and who didn't pre-order originally and have been patiently waiting for the Steam release) it feels a bit like a rebuke to those of us who pre-ordered and stuck with it when they did the bait & switch. I'm fine with some DLC pre-order bonuses as that is its own thing.

Similar to what MWO just did with a Special Variant of the Phoenix Variants, eg: Battlemaster BLR-1G(S) vs BLR-1G(P).
For MW5 Preorder on GOG/Steam, please help to give us inside MWO in-game:
(I'm currently sitting on the fence for MW5 on GOG/Steam; if below four (4) ingame mechs can be awarded then I'll jump at MW5 pre-order!):
Catapult CPLT-C2(L) for MWO in-game
Warhammer WHM-9D(L) for MWO in-game
Marauder MAD-9M(L) for MWO in-game
King Crab KGC-001(L) for MWO in-game
(I was not around when above four mechs was on offer, so never had a chance to order these Special or Loyalty mechs.
I wants it !!)

Yeah, kinda weird moment to be announcing this. After the horrible patch this smells like "hey forget about MWO for a bit, here, look at the shinies!" Even if this is 100% in good faith and with no ulterior motives I hope someone from PGI is reading this so they see what poor management and decisions make to their customer's trust.

Greetings MechWarriors!
We are very excited to announce the May 27th release date for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Xbox Series S and X, Xbox One, GoG and Steam (PC). The first DLC, "Heroes of the Inner Sphere" will release at the same time. For more information, please see the press release HERE. We look forward to sharing more information and media in the weeks to come!
Thank you,
The MechWarrior Team
Good, I will buy it on Steam, like I said I would when I cancelled my pre-order. It is my fault though, buying "pre-release, pre-order" games is foolish as devs frequently "promise" things that they either can't deliver or know that they won't be able to deliver at the time of launch. Anyway, this is good news.

I ain't buying both the base game and DLC unless it's under 25$. You had your chance last Dec 10, coud have released the base-game.

NO PREORDERS
You're paying for a game some schmuck haven't even finished yet, and it has been in only a half-decent state for a year just because of mods. They're even paywalling the fix in the form of "DLC".

I'd certainly buy it on GOG if under 10$ and on steam MAYBE 5 (as I like to OWN my software).
Would really like to invest that money in MWO if it would see some development, but.. yeah nah.

Playing devils advocate, that gives you April's and May's MWO patches to unf*** the current situation we've watched unfold this month. Admittedly listening to Daeron on NGNG he legitimately sounds like Chris (quite possibly Paul and Russ as well) screwed over Daeron and Matt as much as he/they screwed over the community when going in a completely different direction from the feedback given. There is a chance to correct course before Steam/GOG release.
Being realistic, PGI unf***ing things between now and the end of May doesn't feel that likely. MW5, from all reviews I've read, is mostly only good because of mods. Therefore, I think I'll more than likely wait it out to see what PGI's DLCs and patches do to the modding community; and will likely wait for a DEEP sale on the game to allow the modding community to adjust to whatever happens.
EDIT: Hmmm, apparently the auto-censors didn't catch those, so doing it myself before a mod nails me for it.

I have a bridge I would like to sell you.
....And I have some undeveloped waterfront land in Florida I would like to sell you! To bad you missed out on all the benefits of the pre-order for MW5, and that you haven't been able to play the game. I would be happy to give you tips for the game and advice on which mods to download.
