MECHWARRIOR ONLINE
FEBRUARY 2023 PATCH NOTES

Patch Date and Time - February 21st 2023 @ 10AM – 1PM PDT
Version Number: v1.4.273.0
Size: 1.2 GB
Please note that due to compression differences the Steam patch size may be larger than the standalone client patch size.

Greetings MechWarriors!

February brings the final 10 'Mechs to the Platinum Collections. The Inner Sphere variants include the Flea, Vindicator, Quickdraw, Nightstar, Charger and more! These 'Mechs will be available as part of a premade Collection, or part of the new Platinum Custom Collection option (both options available on Patch Day) where you can select a Light, Medium, Heavy, and Assault 'Mech of your choice and create your own custom Platinum Collection. Be sure to watch out for the next Platinum Collection Event!

Level Designer Krazzdaxx is busy working on a new map due in March, previews coming soon!

We have new 'Mech Adjustments for the Hellbringer, Timber Wolf, BattleMaster, MadCat MkII, and the Banshee, and another round of 'Mech Quirk adjustments for variants of the UrbanMech, Jenner IIC, Cicada, Vulcan, Viper, Hatchetman, Vindicator, Nova, Dragon, Victor, and Kodiak.

We've also begun our investigations of the Match Maker system, and what adjustments we might be able to make to hopefully improve the match making process. Stay tuned for more info, and look for another Dev Vlog coming soon!

Also be sure to check out the following in MWO!

These updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, so get out there and do the science, and get us your feedback for future iterations.

And now, we really hope you enjoy the patch!
-The MechWarrior Online Team

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

Patch File(s): - http://patcher.mwomercs.com/patch/Production/frontend/FrontendPatch_413.zip

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch.
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

So will damage reduction be a quirk you will see in mechbay list or a hidden buff to these mechs?

We asked PGI maybe more than 20 times now to increase Clan FP drop deck to be equal to IS. We, just like you have no idea why it keeps not happening, or if it is a technical problem behind it.

Ask PGI.

Also
IS Crusader with no more armor quirks, Giant legs and torsos, vs 10 different Clan mechs able to giga boat ERSLs with super speed and JJs, and boost it further with Micro lasers

Yeah... I think we are fine

Same community lost their minds when the EXACT amount was reduced off of Viper CTs. And asked us specifically to give it back through SO8s.
So... yeah... don't spend it all at once, because apparently people thought it was too much taken away.

Kodiak HSL is a nice addition, I'll have a nice excuse to try it out again.

I never expected we'd actually get position-dependant quirks like this, but this looks fantastic! It'll give Battlemasters some more build variety, make the brawler MCII-2 a little better, and the only downside is that it'll take slightly longer to farm LRM TBRs.

Adding a damage reduction instead of more armor quirks seems a little bit odd. Did somebody figure out how to repurpose the missile bay door code for this? Or maybe it was to prevent damaged mechs from spontaneously exploding when they run out of ammo? Either way, I'm going to play a lot of MCII-2 on the 21st.

Nice dodged the question why the IS 14 ER can take small lasers without gohst heat
with clan from 6 Gohst Heat are
Crusader Armor and Structure compare this with the TOP Doc E.g. or other mechs in the 65 ton class
This answer is a cheap excuse in my opinion
shank FP away or make Mix Tech out of it!

yeah but would be nice if they apply to the launcher and not just launcher with ammo.

they lose the reduction when out of ammo though. so when you run outta ammo your big missile boxes are huge targets again...

Bushwackers, Griffins, Wolverines, Warhammers, Warhammer IICs, Maulers, Corsairs, Victors, ON1-IIC-A, TDR-5S, CP-10-Q, CP-11-A, CP-11-A-DC, HTM-27T, HTM-SG, HGN-HM, HGN-733, HGN-733C, HGN-733P, HGN-IIC-A, HGN-IIC-B, HGN-IIC-KP, and NSR-WP also need the damage reduction quirk for the missile pod. (Cyclopses, Highlanders, and Victors when 2 or more 10+ tube systems are mounted in a torso) Further, SMN-Prime, -B, -C, -F, and -M omnipods, DWF-Prime, -A, -S, and -W omnipods should have this quirk.

Incidentally, I think it's good that the rocket launchers were excluded for the bonuses. I think PGI actually gave some thought after the massive complaints about rocket launch balancing during infinite ammo events.

Aim for arms, quite easy prey from 250 metres and above if you keep cool.

Yes everything is correct

it still has nothing to do with balance if one side doesn't even get the highest heat at 52.5 DMG and the other gets the highest heat at 30 DMG
with the same weapon
