MWO Comp Championship Series update

The MechWarrior World Championship Series 2025 has officially ended, with a new champion crowned!

The Coalition made it through the entire tournament without dropping a single series and crushed their competition to make it to the upper bracket finals! Vigilance lost an early series to REVENANTS, but were able to power through the lower bracket to get their vengeance and took down REVENANTS in a grudge match for the lower bracket finals, and moved back to the upper bracket for an exciting best of 7 against The Coalition! The finals took place with some nice close matches, but The Coalition would not be denied and they were crowned champions! Congratulations to all members of The Coalition for a job well done! Thank you to every team that participated and fantastic work to everyone that participated and all the hard work they put in! And thank you for Starwolfe, Zonaron, and the rest of the casting crew for showing this live to everyone!

The final standings are:

  • Grand Champions: The Coalition
  • 2nd: VIGILANCE
  • 3rd: REVENANTS-10th Lyran Guards RCT
  • 4th: Clan Crossfire
  • 5th: FJRD FIESTA
  • 6th: 228 Reapers
  • 7th: Mantra
  • 8th: mechwarrior6dotcom
  • 9th: 2d20 Salvage Crew
  • 10th: KDCM UnderwaterHandymen
  • 11th: -ELO-
  • 12th: Kastarion's Guards

This year’s Champion’s Choice (Official Selection) award goes to Bows3r. Bows3r earns the prestigious Champion’s Choice In-Game Cockpit Item, awarded to the most valuable player across Top 12 matches, as selected by the Series Officials. It was an incredibly tight pool this year, with standout performances across the board. This year’s Champion’s Choice (People's Selection) award goes to Chickenman919. Chicken was awarded the MVP by general selection as the most valuable player in the final!

Equipment Changes

  • Small Cockpit now adds 1 extra ton to mechs. This is to line it up with the tabletop stats of the equipment and prepare for future variants.

Map Changes

  • Moved Theta cap point on Tourmaline Desert

  • Replaced AWS-8Q with COR-7A on Canyon Network training grounds

Weapon Changes

  • Removed spread on RAC2 and RAC5

  • Increased IS LBx 5 cooldown to 1.25 (from 1.15)

  • Increased Clan LBx 5 cooldown to 1.25 (from 1.15)

  • Increased IS SRM Artemis Ammo to 150 from 120 per ton

  • Rocket Launcher Rework

    • As the player holds fire, Rocket Launchers will fire 8 missiles per second. A mouse tap will only fire 1 missile

    • Rocket Launcher 10/15/20 comes with 48/88/127 rockets per launcher. This is not impacted by ammo quirks

    • Rocket Launcher cooldown: 0.125. This is not impacted by cooldown quirks

    • Rocket Launcher heat: 0.375

    • Rocket Launcher damage per missile: 1

    • Rocket Launcher Spread: 3.75

    • Rocket Launcher 10/15/20 ghost heat limit: 3/2/2

    • Rocket Launchers no longer ghost heat with SRMs and MRMs

Rocket Launchers have been a polarizing weapon, their primary use serving as a griefing one shot weapon and are relatively useless beyond that compared to other weapons. This change turns them into a more reliable secondary weapon with more longevity in exchange for a more moderate damage output.

The Oxide is in a unique state where it is incredibly overperforming in competitive play while average in quick play. This change aims to bring it in line with other light mech brawlers in competitive matches while maintaining, or potentially improving, its quick play status as an SRM skirmisher.

Nice, an Incubus partial with a Shield. It's cool that they are drawing inspiration from the Incubus II for this Legendary Mech.

I don't like the continuing precedent of making new weapons behind paywalls.
