Yaaaay the Raiders make an appearance. The Fox's Teeth source-book is handy for learning about these guys in more detail.

It looks like we know where they went now. What started out as a rumor, and then an official internal protest, ended up on Delacruz... Interesting. Since we're not hearing about the results, it sounds like the 8th Sword of Light either gave as good as they got or managed to frustrate the raiders entirely.

Or they simply weren't there in the first place...

Considering it's a raid with extremely lopsided forces, anything involving all out brawl would not have ended well for the 7th Lancers.

Granted, I hear that the 8th Swords have lots of green troops in 3rd and 4th battalions.

A raid game mode would be cool, BTW. Especially if modelled in a way that represents difficulty of guarding multiple possible targets against elusive ights and fast mediums.

They never were at places they lost...

The Kentares massacre is only 250 years in that era old afterall :) Maybe the United States should send forces to attack Britain tomorrow to avenge the Boston Massacre?

Besides, why would the McKinnon’s Raiders have any anger towards the Draconis Combine for being attacked by Ronin, who are not working under the orders of their master.

The Draconis Combine was the first nation to recognize the freedom of the Rasalhague Republic after all, why would we send forces to disrupt it. Those Ronin were traitors to the Draconis Combine, and didn't want to give up the worlds of the Republic, worlds they had in many cases defended from the Lyrans for their entire military careers.

Old hatreds are hard to kill. And thats especially true in the Battletech Universe.

Though I'm happy that Kentares is still fresh in so many memories. Makes them forget more recent massacres, like the one on Truth.

Truth was a Capellan world from 2367 to 3030.

Quote

3020 - Capellan forces masquerading as rogue mercenary unit, raided the planet and killed from between 3,000 - 50,000 religious members of Pan-Humanist group. The world's population was devastated. Its population was only 3,000 by 3025.

Quote

The Pan-Humanists are a philosophical movement recently begun in the Periphery. Founded on the Outworlds Alliance planet Ramora by Herodias Ap Gwynn in the late thirtieth-century, the Pan-Humanists believe that all humanity shares a common path, future and goals. Though Pan-Humanists may not be able to adequately interpret the path, they choose the obvious course of action to improve all mankind, which is to act as conciliators, diplomats and teachers.

The Pan-Humanists work throughout the Human Sphere to reconcile political, social and military disputes through education and diplomacy. Ironically enough, the philosophy of the Pan-Humanists is most akin to the surface intent of the Star League. In stark contrast to the Star League, the work of the Pan-Humanists has not harmed those it ostensibly endeavors to help.

From the old "ComStar report":

Quote

Two “demonstration lessons” have been dealt out to religious groups in the last two decades, the first on Anderson’s World and the second, more serious, on the planet Truth.

In the second incident, a private religious sect advocating a pan-human unity extending to all believers in all Successor States was dealt with more severely. Once the sect was determined to be dangerous to the interests of the state and to have engaged in acts of disloyalty to the Chancellor, retribution was swift. Disguised as a rogue mercenary band, a company of hand-picked MechWarriors under the personal command of Colonel Pavel Ridzik was called in to eliminate the Pan-Humanists. In the slaughter that followed, thousands of defenseless civilians were systematically exterminated in a single day. Though a handful escaped the massacre, the movement ceased to exist as an organized religion.

So, the Capellans disguise themselves as mercs, stage a raid against their own planet, and massacre a group of peaceful humanitarians?! :D

Even green, no force matches the Swords of Light for their devotion. Only the most loyal are chosen for the great honor of serving in House Kurita's finest. Only the strictest adherence to Bushido, only the bravest, only the best; against that, what hope does any mercenary scum have?

MWO is set, what, 3049? I really have to read up on the fluff - my knoweldge really ends around ComStar's defeat of the Clans. After that it gets a little blurry.
