Thur. May 10, 3049: Despite ardent objections of inviting ComStar investment in 3039, improvements of OA literacy and economy are undeniable.

When you educate the pesants they sudently realize they may be getting a raw deal! Look at France, Imperial Russia and more recently the Middle East Shitstorm.

Next thing we know the OA will be doing things like churning out great aerospace jocks who may impress someone enought to want to forge an alliance with them. This can`t be good!

"Between" may be a bad word to use, more like "bordering".

I still wonder why President Avellar never made a deal with the Taurian Concordat. Illiteracy is unheard of in the latter.

Possibly because the fact that Taurian citizens are literate for the sole purpose of being able to operate nuclear weapons against the Davionist scum does not sit very well with a pacifist nation like the Outworlds Alliance... :D

Comstar's investment in the Periphery states began back in 3000 AD under Primus Allen Rusenstein. "Using the power of the Comstar News Bureau, the Primus made it appear to the public that the Order was investing billions of C-bills in bringing the Periphery into closer communication with the Inner Sphere. In reality, however, this was no more than propaganda. (edit for brevity) While the news broadcasts were featuring the benefits of trade initiated by Comstar negotiators in the Periphery, ... (edit) The isolated worlds of the Periphery were to remain that way." (butchered from the Comstar sourcebook, FASA, 1992).
