Be a Hero Challenge Weekend Event Details:
Starts Friday February 22nd 10:00 PST until Sunday, February 24th 11:59:59 PST.

Are you willing to accept the challenge? Opt-In to have your regular solo scores counted towards 5 unique leaderboard challenges, and see if you are a MechWarrior Champion!

Rules

Players who Opt-In are automatically entered into 5 leaderboard challenges:
  • MechWarrior Champion - Top 3 Global Ranking Scores
  • Light MechWarrior Champion - Top 3 Scores using Light BattleMechs
  • Medium MechWarrior Champion - Top 3 Scores using Medium BattleMechs
  • Heavy MechWarrior Champion - Top 3 Scores using Heavy BattleMechs
  • Assault MechWarrior Champion - Top 3 Scores using Assault BattleMechs
PLEASE NOTE For this particular challenge event, only solo player scores will count towards the leaderboards. Players who are within a group of 2 or more people for any match played during the event, will not have their scores counted towards any leaderboard challenges.

Scoring

For the MechWarrior Champion challenge we are using an aggregate score that rewards players for participating in all 4 leaderboard challenges as follows:

Global Ranking Score = (Total Event Players – Light Rank) + (Total Event Players– Medium Rank) + (Total Event Players – Heavy Rank) + (Total Event Players – Assault Rank)

For the Light, Medium, Heavy, and Assault Champion challenges we are using an aggregate score that weighs Win/Loss Ratio, Kills, Kill Assists, Capture Assists, Spotting Assists, and Games Played.

Standard TOS and EULA are in effect.

Rewards

Winners will be announced on Tuesday February 26, 2013. Confirmed winners for each challenge will received a cockpit banner on March 5th. There are a total of 15 banners to be earned.

The top three scores in each leaderboard challenge will receive:
  • 1st Place - Gold Banner
  • 2nd Place - Silver Banner
  • 3rd Place - Bronze Banner

This, is a great idea. gives a sense of purpose to grinding over and over. would be awesome if your name that displays could get a title you see. also makes me think that it would be nice if you could find out your various elo scores

I like the idea, but how is it going to work with ELO? Wouldn't it be best to tank your rating before the event so when the even starts you play easier games and inflate your KDR early on? Also what's to stop 4 (or more) players attempting to drop at the same time?

Isn't this contest essentially a grindfest and the winner will be whoever can stay awake playing the game the longest?
Doesnt seem any advantage to quality over quantity if you have the time for it.

Hey... this the best time to show which mechs are actually OP as this is perfect PGI farming data.

This might be interesting.

Flame me all you want, but you all know this will be won by aim bots. In game events are a great idea, but its just too bad that there is no way to stop the cheaters from cracking the game. I guess paying $25 to buy that added edge for a loser who can't aim makes them feel justified. I would actually be somewhat impressed if these losers actually knew how their crack worked or had any idea how to code it. Until PGI finds a way to detect and squash these pissants there is no point in even bothering to keep score. Fortunately there are enough rightous players to make most matches legitimate stompy robot fights. For the haters who have to cheat to get ahead, well nice work in driving a game you should love into the ground but your not fooling anyone.

I hope it is not a sum total but instead a fancy system that creates an average. They say they will "weigh" a variety of things.

So does playing in a group during the event just not count the grouped matches or does playing in a group even once during the event disqualify a player?

There doesn't seem to be any restrictions. So, go show PGI the reason why ECM is overpowered.

I think it means that you must "solo pug". Premades don't count towards the scoreboard.

Let's blame Garth if you don't win. :)

Hopefully they answer this question. It's unclear in the announcement.
