Hi!

I am - as usual - rather unhappy with the FPS in MW:O.

I haven't played in a while and bought a new PC some months ago, yet still I experience drops to below 30FPS at 1080p. I am not running maxed settings, mostly high and medium settings here and there.

Here's my system:

- Xeon 1231v3 with stock clocks and cooled by a Scythe Mugen 4.

- Powercolor R9 280X with stock some OC. (Stock OC has the same probs)

- 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL9 Corsair Vengeance

- MSI H97 Guard-Pro

- Antec TruePower Classic 450W

- MW:O is installed on my Samsung 840 Evo SSD

- Corsair 500R case with a total of 6 fans

Temperatures okay (around 65°C for the CPU and around 75°C for the GPU und around 80°C for VRM under load - both of which are still not temps that would cause any downclocking) and I get the performance I am expecting in basically all games. I know that my R9 280X isn't high end, but it's still a fairly decent mid-high-card. So it should be able to handle MW:O with at least 40-60FPS.

But I never even reach 60 FPS. I have no Vsync enabled but I barely make 50 FPS at times. I am running MW:O in 64-bit-mode and I am using DX11.

Are there any cfg.-tweaks that are a must have these days? Especially since I can't explain how I would drop below 30 FPS with my rig so frequently.

There are no real user.cfg tweaks anymore. PGI locked basically all variables last year.

You want to disable any CPU-intensive tasks in the background, since that is the hardware bottleneck here, not the GPU. Things like streaming video or any calculations will have a big impact on MWO.

What? :D

I am not sure whether I correctly understand your post. The Antec TPC is a high-quality PSU and 450W are more than enough for basically any Single-GPU (maayyyybe 290X aside) configuration. Under heavy load my system won't exceed more than 350W. The Antec TPC uses DC-DC, has rather good and appropriate NipponChem caps both on primary and secondary side.

It's based on a Seasonic plattform and also built by Seasonic as well. The PSU should not be a problem at all.

Additionally, it's actually a 550W PSU that was downlabled to fill a certain price gap.

But that aside: Does this cfg. work? Is Modo44 wrong? :D

Thanks for your replies btw.

Dude does not understand that a 450W PSU provides 450W to the PC it powers. 450W for any single GPU is perfectly fine, as long as you do not mind the fan going at maximum speed while you play.

As for user.cfg "working", that is the placebo effect (works great on one map/in a different situation), the just after patch effect (less stress on MWO servers), and also MWO's inherent inconsistency (many people report user.cfg randomly working/not working, without any rig or OS changes). We know that PGI locked a lot of variables last year, but we do not know which ones, specifically, because that would be good communication.

From personal experience, hardly anything does anything. I recently asked support specifically how to disable eye adaptation, and this was the entire reply: "We don't currently allow user-end modification of this aspect of the engine."

try switching to dx9+64bit, has the best performance for me.
the system should be able to handle even big fights, and in most cases mwo is cpu bound. that means oc'ing the gpu wont have any benefit.

Might try to limit tessellation factor in CCC to 2x or 4x and see how it fares?

Hi

I was also unhappy with my FPS. I had always this micro stuttering e.g. when i move my torso left or right fast or when i zoom.

What I tried was the following 2 things:

- Disable Core Parking
- Set HPET as you only platformclock in Windows

I made these two changes at once but I think disable core parking was the big improvement.
You can try step by step.

Disable Core Parking:

Open regedit and navigate to

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\ PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00"
Then search for "0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583"

and set "Attributes" from "1" to "0"
Then open your energy options. You should have a new entry now:

Set the "Processor performance core parking min cores" to 100%

HPET:

Hope this helps.

For me it did!

Edit:

Just for your info I am playing at 1920*1080 with settings to HIGH, DX11, motion blur low and Vsync enabled, everything smooth.

My Sys:

i7 3820
16GB DDR 1600Mhz
780ti
960GB SSD
