There is no way those four turbo jets are stock, they could never arrest that crafts momentum.

Hi, I'm the author of the craft and video.

All (12) of the engines on the dropship are stock, but they (and most of the other parts on the ship) have been rescaled using the tweakscale mod.

Hehe, it even got coverage in PC Gamer! So cool.

I played the hell out of KSP last night. The new atmospherics are challenging! Fortunately parachutes are very OP, so pop those chutes at 30,000 meters and enjoy!

Yes, I was surprised how much drag those chutes produced. I haven't tried them prior to reentry yet. The new heat shields work wonders but the ships still break apart if it is not angled correctly.

Superb video/craft design. subbed.

I was wondering if the dropship can get into orbit under its own power. A video of you deploying mechs onto another celestial body (from launch to deploy) would be fantastic. But I understand it may not be possible.

A while ago (0.18 I think) I built a SSTO dropship to deploy a lander onto the Mun. I think Jeb is probably still sat on the Mun wondering if rescue is coming... But between this (MWO) and the recent Elite release, I've missed out on all the KSP releases since then.

Again, brilliant work.

Sorry for the late reply, I stopped following up on this a while back.

The dropship itself has jets only (no rocket engines... too fuel inefficient for something so big and un-aerodynamic) so no chance of orbit. I was thinking of going further with the idea but KSP 1.0, a holiday overseas and the witcher 3 kinda put a halt on my plans. I feel bad for people when people tell me they've subbed because I don't put out videos very often and I'm actually not playing KSP at the moment :P But I appreciate it anyway, cheers!
