Ninja edit: This topic is not meant to discuss whether or not something is a cheezebuild. It is about wheter or not players have seen such a drastic difference in mechs on the battlefield.

I've seen some players state that elo has been enabled alhough I haven't seen this in the patch notes. It seems likely because my matches are becoming increasingly difficult. But not mostly because the players are more skilled but because most matches it's cheeze build galore. I hardly see anything except ravens 3L, Atlas D-DC, trip uac/5 Muromets, splatcats, splatstalkers and gausspults..

Is elo indeed enabled and is this the result? Are there more players experiencing this?

Elo is enabled, but it is not used to lessen or prevent "cheese" builds. Your equating two different aspects of the game that have no relation to each other.

CheeseRobotsOnline..... Its becoming the thing to do. Add this to the ELO changes that has pushed most pilots back into Heavy, and Assualts its even worse. It has given room for light mechs to play 1 in 3 games with out getting SSRM to death by a raven though so I guess thats good.

Good players use cheese builds and bad players use cheese builds. ELO wouldn't have an effect on this one way or another, and it also doesn't tell you anything about your ELO that you're facing them. They are EVERYWHERE.

I'm sick of MinmaxWarrior/RobotJocks/WorldOfTanksWithLegs Online. Someday I hope it will be MechWarrior, or we will be able to setup private matches so the REAL MechWarriors can play together.

Edit: I forgot CheeseRobots Online - nice one stallin.

Well, it seems to end up as good players in non-cheese vs less-good players in cheese.
And then the very top end is good+cheese vs good+cheese (or so I hear...)

I would not call the 3XUAC builds cheese. They are difficult to do well in, jam at the worst times, and tend to run low on ammo if you are not careful.

I am actually doing exactly that. It's easier to obtain a high elo with a cheezebuild -> more cheezebuild in high elo. Dunno if elo is per mech but I'm pretty sure getting to high elo with a raven 4X is a lot harder than with a 3L.

They weren't there so much before. Based on my stats I would say I am at least above average elo. But compared to some time before the amount of cheeze seems to have multiplied like crazy.

Welcome to 8 mans.

Everyone scoffed when we told you what mechs were the best (or made some anecdotal argument about doing 700 dmg in a spider).

Now you get to play the cookie cutter hell we have enjoyed.

I am not observing the trends you are observing. So, I guess all I have to say it, "Cool Story Bro!"

Can't really say I've noticed any more cheese builds than before. On the other hand, it seems the definition of "cheese build" gets looser and looser as time goes on. Sometimes it seems like any build that kills someone is a cheese build.

You are using "cheesebuild" to get higher elo, and then switching back to your "normal" mechs? What's the logic there? Elo is not something you spend in the mechbay to buy things, it doesn't enable any upgrades or powerups.

The "tournament" exacerbated the situation as many of the "leaders" played those builds, exclusively. When the "masses" found out what variants/loadouts they "won" with, they copied them.

FOTM has bred.

I'm a little curious about 3xUAC Ilya making the list of cheese builds, it seems like that's the whole point of the chassis.

Anything else you can do with a 3D, dual Gauss and 1 PPC, dual PPC and 1 Gauss etc.

lol. You may have a higher ELO score then me but that does not make you a better pilot. By using a cheesebuild you are just inflating your score.

Hence the question if elo is player based or mech based

So what is NOT considered a cheesebuild?

I mean comeon. It seems like everything these days is a cheese build???

AS muchas I hate it, I dont even think the phract-3D in poptarter mode and 2PPC/1Gauss, to me is a cheesebuild. It take skill to target while floating up and down.

The raven-31 with ECM, 2 SSRM and 3 lasers is a standard build...not a cheese build.
Atlas-DDC with ECM and AC20/gauss/2UAC5, 2LL, 3 LRM/SRM is standard, not cheese.
While I hate them with a fricken passion, the LRM boat is not cheese.
Miromets with 3UAC5 is not cheese.

So what, to you all, constitutes a cheese build?
What the definition, and who makes the determination that build is "Cheese"?
