I am not sure if anyone else experienced this, or if I just had a bad night, but there seems to be something up with Elo.

One thing I noticed after Elo was put in was damage was spread pretty well across the board. Rarely did you see people scoring < 100 damage for example in a given round, nor did you generally see people walk away with > 1000+ damage rounds.

Tonight though, after the patch, Im regularly seeing 4-6 teammates do < 100 damage during a loss. I can honestly say, this was a complete rarity between the point Elo was put in and now. Perhaps oddest of all, it all seems to be when I pilot a heavy ( Ilya or Flame ).

Anyone else experiencing this? During losses are you seeing lots of really awful scores on your side of the fence?

Oh thank god it's not just me. I thought I must suck way harder than I thought I did. Do you know how many trial mechs I've seen today?

I have not seen a huge string of stomps yet. But I have seen a few matches in a row that were really one sided. Most of it had to do with bad organization. A lot of what I saw was one team stringing itself out, and the other team staying packed tight. Hard for someone to do over 100 damage if they wander into 5 enemy mechs by themselves.

I am not sure if those games are reflective of the individuals skills, or just bad luck with organization.

I have seen a lot of 8-3 matches but the damage is usually pretty good on the losing side.

I always see lots of poor scoring on my team, usually it's me ;)

My Elo experience is that it is a bit streaky (I've made up a word there, or at least a meaning). I have had long streaks of excellent games where it comes down to the last 3 or 4 mechs to decide but then I'll spend some time getting mercilessly whipped for a while, then back to normal.

I am assuming that my Elo score has risen sufficiently to put me into games with more skilled players. I would guess that you've done just the opposite, perhaps you've been matched with less skilled players.

I'd really like to see some sort of indicator to say if you're playing in a high Elo match or a low match (i.e. is your Elo score lower or higher than the other players). I understand the reasoning why the score isn't published but I'd like to know if I'm dead in the first 2 minutes of a match, is it because I'm having a bad day or because I'm playing with people much better than me.

I started off winning a lot of matches when ELO first went online, but lately I've been on an incredible losing streak. Some matches feel like stomps, but most are still pretty good. I've had a few matches where I've done <100 damage, but those are usually when I get caught in a bad position and LRMed to hell or turn a corner and come face to face with the entire enemy team.

I thought I remember the devs saying it will take a month or so for our ELOs to stabilize, so it probably just needs more time.

State rewind has removed the lagshield many players had. So now they actually die as fast as they should have been all along.

Hard fought wins, crushing losses for me.

Today I was either top score for my team (once had best score even over the winners) or squashed before I even broke 100 damage.

No clear wins that's for sure.

North America prime-time is always a bad time to play, multiply that by about 100 on a patch day.

You've got people that don't play much or haven't played in awhile popping in to see what the changes are. They are either really rusty or completely inexperienced. There are even a lot of founder's who are waiting for a more "finished" product before they get really deep in the game.

It also brings a lot of teams either testing their new shinies on the pubbies, or just trolling because the population is abnormally high.

So you get an abnormally high number of bad players playing solo, bad players in teams, and trolls mixed in with us, the usual gang of i diots ;)

That's my theory anyway.

I think I'm doing pretty well tonight, honestly. Not running into too many of these issues. There was the one match where my team was asleep and no one was typing at all, and we got crucified because we sat around at spawn in conquest for literally no reason, but other than that, it's been quite good.

Very much the same for me. Last night I was tearing it up in my Commando, now the majority of my drops have been with greenies (trial mechs) and it hasn't gone so well. It will probably fix itself as patch-hype dies down.

I dropped in some really weird matches right after the patch. In some matches the team was like a groups of zombies, but In one good match our team of mixed mechs fought heroically against a team of five (5) Ravens one DDC (I don´t remember the others) and won.

I've felt it, and it's not just since the patch. When Elo went live my matches balanced out a lot. Regardless of outcome, I was seeing solid play on both sides. More recently it's turned into primarily stomps by one side or the other and I feel like most of my teammates are in their first post-cadet mech while my opponents are organized and competent. Not all, but an unfortunate majority.

if state rewind actually works as advertised, youre going to see a lot of 100+ ping players who previously had modest/low Elo ratings start murdering things with lasers en masse, now that their aim is the thing that determines their success rather than their predictive power.

I understand that Elo ratings will take some time to stabilize but shouldn't we
see some effects already? I must say that i'm still seeing alot of stomps where
score is 7-1, 8-0. Cant really say that they have diminished.

Also played a game where my side were 8 players and opposing forces were 5 (1disc and 2 down at beginning)
and still my team got stomped. :) (i know i suck so pls dont comment on that)
So if Elo was working correctly shouldnt my team have rolled the other team as they should have been about
our Elo score? Think that we being 3 more should count for something.

Oddly enough ... this happened to me too yesterday ... 6 matches and 5 losses ... some rather lopsided. Mostly, I figure it was just bad luck since it isn't enough to be statistically significant. On the other hand, it is a poor start to all the new statistics :)

Could they have accidentally reset ELO with the introduction of all the new statistics? I know that the win/loss data for each chassis that would have been accumulated previously is not shown in the statistics screen for each chassis ... so unless they are accumulating two sets ... one for ELO and one for stats ... then there could be an issue.

haven't played since monday (so not since patch) but on monday I had a very terrible couple of matches. I played in a group of two and we lost nearly e v e r y match with :0 or :1 and damage ranging from zero to 200 (300 in one case but that is not much, too). The other team's damage started where that of our team ended. We both quitted after only six or seven stampedes (matches) because it was too depressing after a hard day at work...

When I PUG I experience better matches and more fun - as stupid as it may sound.

It probably have to do with host state rewind. More successful shots requires a change in playstyle. Even my Atlas felt more vulnerable. It's funny to imagine even he had a bit of a lagsheild.

Maybe their scores were so high that the 6 that showed up, divided by 8 still matched your average.....

It sure feels like there was an Elo change as game after game my team was absolutely terrible.

Just went 0-3 this morning, stomped twice, and one where the winners had 6 left. It felt just like old times, but may be an anomoly. Or I suck more than I thought.
Edit: I was in my flame all three games.
