So, for those of us with multiple monitors, allow us to move things like the minimap to one of the secondary monitors and clear up additional space for combat. Or for commanders, allow us to put up the detailed map on a continuous basis on a secondary monitor.

Fully customizable UI.

Sounds like a good suggestion really, would like that personally and give me a reason to get another CRT [2560x1920@19" still isn't enough]. Tack on the touchscreen monitors for active squad management/waypoint setting would probably be a commanders dream come true.

OT: Wonder if 3-monitor view will be supported at some point as well as it could really dive into some piloting immersion when couples with the eye/head tracking 'headgear'.

They have already said three monitors will be supported.

Yes, but that doesn't mean there will be a customized UI that you can 'arrange' across those 3 monitors. If they just want to give us a wider view of the battle-field, fine... but I'm specifically requesting a bit more flexibility in using the HUD to optimize my display for specific roles (Commander, Scout, etc).

The ability to assign each part of the HUD to a specific monitor would be ideal. I am building a custom pod for this game. The more customization the better.

I'd love to see a mobile application tie-in for tablets (iOS / Android) that allows me to run the tactical map with touch input. I have mine mounted next to my computer! :)

I wonder if virtual world still has those old battletech pods for sale...., now I just gotta get the devs to get all the extra buttons to do stuff :)

This was requested quite awhile back, and would be worthwhile to be sure. I don't think I ever saw a dev reply about the idea, so it definitely merits discussion.

I whole heartedly concur with this topic, especially the touchscreen integration.
Customizable monitors, (especially of differing sizes) would be nothing but an asset to this game in every possible way.
I would also like to add that being able to strech your forward view across screens would be desireable.

This comes up and time and time again I'll agree with it entirely. This is a game begging for more than just "wider FOV" style multi-monitor support. I would kill to be able to put the Battlegrid on my 2nd monitor for example!

Customizing multi-monitor display would be awesome. Nothing like missing a light mech in the lower right of your screen because the HUD is blocked and your other three monitors are still displaying your desktop. :)
It might also be cool if you could assign a cockpit window to a monitor. Something like having the front window center, then left and right views on the appriate sides. Though some mechs like the Hunchback and the Chimera that wouldn't do much good...

This is the best idea ever! My little Xperia displaying radar, or weapons, or Mech health...
NOOOPE
Too hard to code that, I guess, unless some device supports displaying your desktop.

Awesome nonetheless.

With windows 8 comming out with touch screen built in I thinking that the tablet idea isn't fo far fetched. As far as multiple monitors and cuntomizing the UI, YES PLEASE!

This sort of thing is already being offered by a lot of flight sim programs. There are some great videos on youtube that demonstrate the sorts of things you can do, like moving your instrument panels to a separate lcd and having your actual fov on a projector. Similarly with some of the flight sim specific gear out there like the Saitek pro instrument panel, which is basically a customisable 3.5" lcd with a few buttons, designed to bolt together in a cluster, it'd be easy enough to set up a few of thee with your own mech damage status, radar and target damage status, if this option was offered and you had unlimited money. Of course a much cheaper option would be just putting it all on an old 19" lcd or something.

tl;dr:Splitting the UI into discrete windows = AWESOME!

Here's a good example video too:
(edited to add: You want to jump to about 2:15 or so where he starts splitting off the display into multiple screen panels. Keep in mind this is done with MS Flight Sim 2004, so not exactly cutting edge technology).

I guess it couldn't get any better then a touchscreen 2nd monitor !
A different PoV in other monitors would be cool too, like a few arcades that has 3 screens for a wide angle view !

that would be nice. I mean, I have a 2 monitor card. Upgrading to a 3 monitor one is gonna cost over 300 bucks. Not exactly worth it. But I dont want this second monitor going to waste here, just displaying my home screen the whole time.

Think it's a great idea, but I'm betting never replied when this has been brought up because of the nightmare it would be to create and make functional.

I'm a complete rookie in terms of game programming but even I can see that adding that sort of functionality is still a little ways away. Hopefully in a few years this sort of setup will be commonplace, but I'm guessing anything involving custom multi-montior setup would be a "future development".

Still, that being said, taking my monitors and turning off the lights would give a sweet immersion experience being surround by the mech ;-)

You realise that this sort of thing has been implemented in the past with MS Flight Simulator for example. The technology is there, to do it now. It just depends on how difficult and how much time it would take.

Cant see it at launch, but hopefully shortly after. <fingers crossed> ;)

I agree as well - hopefully this will be implemented at some stage - I'd love to have weapons systems, damage status, map, etc. on my second monitor... :(
