I have been using a Logitech dual action gamepad for a few months now with no issues. I did not have to change my user.cfg or anything. After this new patch I launched the testing grounds and ran around. My gamepad was working fine. I quit the testing grounds and launched an assault match. Now my key bindings for throttle, battle grid and the screen that shows who’s alive or dead do not work no matter what I bind them to on my gamepad. The gamepad is working in other games.

My throttle wont work same as yours. I am going to test battle grid and score screen on my joystick to see if they work.

My joystick reads all key presses in options, yet throttle just WON'T WORK in game unless it is ON THE KEYBOARD.

I have tried a game pad and 2 joysticks and every time EVERYTHING else seems to work on all the buttons BUT throttle up and down.

I think the patch broke something

*Edit - I tested Show Battlegrid and show scores on my gamepads and joysticks.

Same thing, they refuse to work

Found solution!!

Funkadelic This will work for you.

Go to the game directory. Go to USERS / PROFILES / YOUR USERNAME /

Here you will see 4 xml files.

Copy and paste the actionmap.xml if you want to back it up. Now open up the original one in NOTEPAD.

Go edit REPLACE (or Cntrl + H) and replace index="2" with index="1" - click replace all.

This fixed it for me, I hope it works for you too!


You have to right click on actionmap.xml after you make the changes and switch it to READ ONLY so that mechwarrior Online doesn't revert the changes. Sorry I forgot to say that in my post, Im add it now.

If you don't the game will work properly once or twice then revert back and the xml file will say everything is back to index="2"

*UPDATE*
My throttle works now. I am still not able to bind EMC on/off, battlegrid, player info anywhere on my gamepad since update.

the may 7th patch screwed up my xbox gamepad controls which is going through xpadder. Now the left stick y-axis is analog throttle, and the B-button is zoom. How do i get rid of this automapping?

Seriously. I am having similar issues here as well.

May 7th update messed up my xpadder/360 controls. It wants to throttle backwards whenever i press my analog stick up and throttle forwards whenever I press my analog stick back. I have previously removed all my joystick bindings (except one which only is related to the scoreboard).

Somehow the game is deciding that since it's a "joystick" then when I want to move a certain way with it no matter how I bind my keys.

I just recently started playing. How do you set it up to use a xbox controller? Tryed keyboard and mouse but the mouse is to sensitive.
