Logged in and played a game for the first time in a little while, and my catapult now moves as if it is slogging through jello. Why am I torso twisting so painfully slow now? Lights were annoying enough as it was, now I have no chance of aiming one down to get a shot off.

It's designed as a long range mech, so they tweaked it to reflect that. Similar to Jagermech, though Jagermech has it worse.

catapults were nerfed, their torso twist reduced.

Read the patch notes, if you're posting here you more than likely have access to them, all players should read them as this is still "beta".....

Check in the options for Arm Lock. This locks your arms with your torso when aiming with your mouse. This option is on by default after this weeks patch. Simply turn it off.

In the notes, they changed the maximum twist angle. The twist rate was not mentioned. I suspect the angular twist rate is a derived value from a twist time and maximum angle.

Players not reading patch notes while the game is patching, then coming onto forums to complain about changes.

Priceless.

If so, one would suspect that the indirect twist-speed nerf is a bug and should be fixed.

I can confirm that you need to turn arm lock OFF. I guess it defaults to on for new players but personally I don't see the point.

I don't know why, but with it on my torso was turning very slowly. With it off its back to normal. Its nothing to do with the torso twist nerf.

FYI the Torso Twist nerf didn't seem too extreme to me. I won't be shedding any tears over it as I abuse the 6xALRM-5 A1 to get 1700 damage per match until missiles are fixed :)

Your mouse pointer speed is almost unlimited, torso speed however is not. Normally the camera follows the mouse, with an almost unlimited speed.

With arm lock on, it more or less restricts the speed of your camera, and thus the speed of your mouse, to the speed of your torso.

jagermech should have faster twist. its an anti air platform after all.

it would'nt be able to track air units with how slow it is at turning.

Setting the armlook to "on" by default was the decision of a genious.

Please note: There is sarcasm hidden in the above sentence.

Anti-aircraft platforms do not need a fast twist. The reason being, is you do not shoot at air units that are close to you. One of the most common anti-aircraft weapon systems ever is hand cranked.

The ZPU comes in Quadruple- (ZPU-4) Double- (ZPU-2) and single-barreled (ZPU-1) versions and fires 14.5 mm Tungsten carbide API rounds at 600 rounds per minute, per barrel, at a range of over 4 miles...
