Right now we get a few different things that gives us points, the majority is damage. How about adding an achievement system as well?

There should be both pros and cons for this so it would more or less even out but some mechs have it harder than others

This would increase match points and perhaps in some manner influence cash rewards. This could also be used as a mechanic for repair and rearm by adding negative achievements within the system.

A few examples

Top Damage Dealer: +1% / 50 Damage
Top Killer: +5%/Kill
Master Capper: +5% / Cap
Headshotter: +25% / Headshot
Superb Savior: +5% / Savior Kill
Masterful Assistant: +5% / Assistance
Last Survivor: +10%
Missile Master: +5% / Missile Kill
Ballistic Master: +5% / Ballistic Kill
Laser Maser: +5% / Laser Kill
ECM Blocker: +10% for shutting down an ECM
Machine Gun Kill: +50% [Come on - you'd deserve it]
Captain Barbeque: +5% / Flamer Kill
The Surgeon: +5% / Kill with a critical hit
Kneecapper: +5% / Leg shot off
Arm Wrestler: +5% / Arm Shot off
S.k.e.e.t Shooting: +25% / for killing an enemy in the air

THEN we add penalties like:

Lead Sprayer: -5% for going out of ammo
Out of Gas: -25% Engine Destroyed
Pocket Bomb: -10% killed by ammo explosion
Limping Home: -5% for destroyed leg
etc...

I think it would be funny if on top of the lone survivor bonus, you get an additional bonus for being the last one in a highlander.

Some older games already do something like this, though w/o rewards.

I would not add penalties, but maybe a "parting gift" bonus (a very small bonus) for certain types of failures... like the first to die, or the one that did the least amount of damage.

As a game mechanic I usually find it ironic when a game rewards you for doing good, by making the game easier. Perks do make your mech objectively better. That said there is also all the other players getting objectively better mechs too, so I like to use the racing game analogy; it's like different cc's, bigger engines at higher levels means you need tighter reflexes. And I think that applies here.

I would rather have rewards that don't exsist, like your killing an airborne mech or last survior suggestion, over a bonus for doing a lot of something you already get a reward for.

Just having the titles would be good tho, and perhaps after getting so many of set titles you get camo/decal or cockpit items, or atleast get unlocked for purchase.
