When the waiting for players screen fades, there is a 5 to 15 second delay (where everyone else does the start up animation). Then you do the animation, but the following occurs:
1) On other players' screens and the server, you are not moving
2) On your screen you are moving
3) Missiles, zoom, and targeting do not work (or have an extreme delay, roughly 30 to 60 seconds)
4) you can fire lasers and ballistics, but since you are technically at the start point according to the server, you do no damage
5) text has a 10 to 15 second delay

I have tried switching mechs, restarting the client, restarting my computer, and about to attenpt a fresh install of the game itself.

TL;DR: Nasty bug with no known cure that makes you nothing but a ghost on the battlefield.

EDIT: reinstall did NOT fix... assistance please! If this post is in the wrong spot then where is it suppose to go?

I have had this also. Sent a support ticket on Monday and pgi told me this was a known bug. They told me to wait till the patch and see if its fixed. Still have bug. I cant play at night at the moment. If I play during mid day I can play. This has happened to me within the last week or so.

I just had this bug twice, and its terrible. Sucked the remaining fun out of the game. This game is just an inbalanced mess, they should never have tried to make an mmo on a shoe string budget. New people that play this game will never buy another Mechwarrior game :)

This just started happening to me today.

Really sucks, I was enjoying participating in the Assault vs the World event, and I was going to buy the other Highlander variants w/ MC.

Glad I didn't. PGI if you need some help I'd be glad to pitch in and get some good code under the hood...

This is embarrassing because I told a bunch of my friends to go get MWO since it was out of closed beta, and now not only will they never give you another shot, but my credibility with them is damaged.

Employ some agile methodologies.. hotfix stuff, so what if there is a small patch every day? No one will care if the game actually works. Work on the weekends.. I've pulled 70hr weeks for much less high profile projects.

Open this up to open source wherever possible.. I realize you went w/ the decision to use an awful, closed-source, single platform, single OS game engine.. but maybe there is a tiny spec of good about it? Is there any amount of the code that can be made public so we can turn this into a good game?

My friends' response after trying MWO was, "Well, it's an interesting idea, but there are so many good games out there that actually work, I won't be playing MWO, sorry."

i just made a post over in general discussion about this very problem. it started for me today after i downloaded the patch. i have not yet reinstalled but it seems like that is not working for people. looks like my enjoyment of this game is over. it was decent while it lasted but this is past unreasonable. i have stuck by the this company through so much BS and still i get this 'Bug' and then that bug and this problem and another ad infinium

TL'DR lame lame lame tired of poor game in my favorite franchise. Guess i should just stayed on borderlands

In the exact same boat and attempting a reinstall myself. I will get back here later with an update if it worked or if it did not.

Identical issue:

I believe it is related to host state rewind, but lack to evidence to verify.

I have this problem now as well.
In Training Grounds zoom, targeting, damage, etc...all work fine.

Tried Re-installing MWO on 2 different drives and re-installed graphics drivers.
Did a network reset and modem reset as well.

Still have the problem.

Same to everything. It's not patch-related, though - I had it bad Monday night as well. It's something server-side. I wonder if PGI has sysadmins that work the weekends...
