Hi all, been playing a while but first post so here goes. Currently sensors detect any mech in there range(buffed by BAP and modules) and within LOS. Now my suggestion, make the range a mech can be detected dependent on its tonnage. So for example an atlas can be detected at a longer range than say a Hunchback. Have ECM reduce the detection range and BAP increase the detection range.
This would cause a few changes I can see:
1: Light mechs without ECM can now scout without instantly getting spotted on sensors by larger mechs. Especially on smaller maps
2: The lighter mechs in each category get a slight buff over there heavier counter parts(dragons, commandos etc.)
3: Reduces the effectiveness slightly of large long range snipers against medium and small targets.
4: Medium mechs get a slight buff against heavies and assaults, easier to flank etc without being spotted.
5: Does not buff ecm lights but buffs the other models.

I agree that mech (most especally "Engine" )size should affect sensor range. and BAP should buff this.

I think you have misunderstood( or it could be me misunderstanding your reply), the range you can target an enemy is dependent on the enemy mechs tonnage. So an enemy Atlas could be targeted at say 1000m while a small spider could only be targeted at 400m. BAP could improve this by say 25% meaning you could target the atlas at 1250m and the spider at 500m. ECM would have the reverse effect. note: numbers are just an example.
