Sup folks, I run a Core i5 2500K @4.5Ghz, 8GB DDR3 and a HD7870.

I need to have a high end, all purpose user config file.

The issue I have is textures take FOREVER to load in during the game, serious texture popping (I run it off a USB 2.0 External HDD), any way to just have all the textures load in straight away? I only run 1680x1050 so the 2GB VRAM should be fine.

Basically, post your high end .cfg files and what specs you run em at.

Thanks in advance

Jon.

This might not be fixable unless you put the game on an internal Harddrive - the external is what is causing you the most trouble and isnt fixable your being capped by the USB transfers most likely. The game isnt very big you should be able to use an internal drive without issue.

Are you allowed to customize your user.cfg file?

Your are bottlenecking yourself by having the game in a usb hdd.

Remember textures need to load progressively into your gpu vram from the hdd.

Technically, yes and no.

"What you are not allowed to change is disabled and will not work in your user.cfg."

For example the command to turn off depth of field is not able to be used with the command alone. Doing so requires editing of the program files. The process of installing SweetFX does this override as part of the process of installing it. However while SweetFX is only discouraged from use by PGI, if you try to run the game after custom tweaking SweetFX without knowing what you're doing, it may be detected as a hack program instead, temporarily barring you from playing.

It is for this reason that sometimes the Teamspeak Overlay will cause MWO to crash if TS is on before MWO, as MWO will detect the program piggy-backing on itself and instantly self-terminate listing its illegal termination as caused by the detection of a "hacking software."
