Greetings MechWarriors,

As a result of a number of players experiencing similar HUD issues since we resolved the Kaleidoscopic Screen explosions, we would like to perform an investigation of the possibility that these issues are interrelated and merely presenting themselves in different forms. As such, we seek to determine any noticeable macroscopic patterns in the behaviour of this issue.

To assist us, please answer the questions above to the best of your recollection and ability, limiting responses to this present version of the game.

In addition, please include your CPU and GPU model specifications in your text reply, as well as any further details which you believe might assist us including but not limited to:
  • When/Where the Issue first appears
  • Whether or not the issue appears only after performing certain actions in the menus
  • Whether or not the issue appears in sequences.
  • Whether or not the player was performing any specific actions prior to appearance.
  • Whether any other issues were occuring at the same time.
  • etc....
Any details you provide could go a long way in helping us uncover more resolutions to these issues.

Additional HUD bugs- had an issue with one match earlier this morning, Jenner, Tourmaline, where the throttle and heat bars became a pair of vertical bars stretching the full height of my screen.

1. Errors occur at the beginning of any map usually after 5 or so games.
2. Issues seem to occur at random, I wish I knew what caused them
3. Issues never occur in sequence and can disappear after a match ends
4. No, these occur with or after the mech start-up sequence
5. I usually have one issue occur at any given time.

3.30 GHz, 3.47 GB of RAM

It happens at any time... the 1st match, the last match that ends the session from a CTD.

There are not particular sequences... more likely when it starts late in the session, it starts to happen more often until a CTD.

No special actions required outside of "hitting the launch" button for each and every match.

There are usually no other issues that cause it to happen that I would know of.

It happens on any/every map... although perhaps more frequently on Tourmaline or Alpine or River City where memory consumption (probably both regular memory and video memory) are at an all time high. It is not limited to mech... mode (Conquest/Alpine), config... pretty much EVERY listed thing in this poll.

The only consistent issue is that the HUD bug is affected more by memory consumption and has less to do with the system people use (including OS).

I run a Intel Core 2 Quad (Q9400) on XP with a NVidia Geforce GTX 260 with the latest drivers. Graphics settings are custom... with everything turned down off except for Textures @ High and Object Detail+Shaders @ Very High.

I have had the bulk of the issues described above, with a high overall frequency. Also had an issue with my raven on frozen city where my speed gauge seemed to extend above the normal area for it. As well as parts of the hud including the kill counters being either inaccurate or not appearing at all. As a side note, I have never crashed to desktop while these bugs are active, I only seem to ctd when everything else is otherwise ok.

I have used the repair tool as indicated by support for several bugs, however it still occurs. I also rebuild my shaders catch frequently.

Usually one of these is present from the beginning of a match: no minimap, un-turning minimap, un-updating HUD, while other times it's just a crush to desktop as the loading screen appears or at the match found.

HUD issues always begin before the match even starts. Since the HUD is not generally visible until after the startup sequence has completed I usually don't notice issues until that point... However, occasionally I can tell that I'm going to have HUD issues even before the startup sequence has completed - this is due to obvious framerate degradation. Only one or two HUD issues cause noticeable framerate degradation for me, but when it happens I can tell that the game is running poorly during the startup sequence even though the HUD is not visible yet.

Completely random, First match of the day may have any number of HUD bugs and the 2nd match could be completely fine.

Only thing I've noticed is the compass working right at the start, then getting locked at a certain orientation, followed by the map going black.

Sometimes my Mech's name changes to the compass facing value (###) and increases/decreases with mech rotation.

I believe when my CPU/GPU or whatever gets too hot the building textures on frozen city and alpine start to flicker and disappear....

incidentally I had Windows media player running also..which probably made my computer cry.


Worse yet, I found if my computer runs too hot, my HUD completely disappears and can only be retrieved if I shut my actual mech down. alt tabbing and other silly tricks don't work.

HUD corruption issues went from ~ 5% pre-patch to 15-20% at last hotfix. Also, friendlies and enemies are now appearing and dissapearing much more often on map. Wasn't there a change to ECM behavior, that seems to have reverted? (disappearing friendly IFF)

No indications before game launch or HUD activation whether any of the various manifestations of this bug will occur. No observable pattern. No menu sequence more likely to cause it to happen. Resetting client has no effect on frequency. Essentially, repro is a PITA, so I'm not surprised this one's being stubborn.

i7 950. SLI GTX580's. A second monitor connected displaying comments / pandora etc.

Anecdotally, I can confirm that for me, the issues occur most often on Tourmaline. I perhaps get one game in five on Tourmaline that has a fully working HUD. Other maps are more like 50-60% chance of issues.

I've only had 1-2 crashes in the last week. I've run the repair tool (no issues found). If I delete my shader cache, I'm usually (though not always) good for a few matches before corruption starts again. Crashes are the game client just disappearing with no error messages. Happens on launching a match, before game loads it just closes. Doesn't seem related to HUD bugs though.

Last night alone I had the full range of issues for example. No minimap. Minimap there but not moving in relation to me. Zoomed mini map. Developer HUD with everything on screen at once. HUD powering up and down randomly / flickering. No IFF but everything else working.

I usually stream to twitch.tv/surloch - if you want examples just watch one of my past recordings. Over time I've had almost all the HUD bugs and plenty not listed. I will go over my games in Twitch to be sure, but my rough estimate is almost 2/3rds of my games have some form of HUD bug.

HUD except chat dissappears in middle of game.

reappears when i am spectating.

various map bugs (map not rotating. arrow not rotating. field of view not rotating etc etc any variation of that
