General Setting/Layout:
A mountain range (running east to west) runs through the middle of the map with a valley to either side. A very large Mountain (or peak) is in the center (middle of the map) with a "hidden" base inside.

Drop/Modes:
Each team would drop in either valley (north and south - opposite side of the mountain) and depending on the mode try to stop the other team from capturing the base.
  • Assault: Stop the other team from Capturing
  • Conquest: Capture the resources around the base to secure the base
  • King of the Hill (future?): Secure the base so Dropship can take off
Terrain:
The terrain could be all types from Pines coming off of the mountain to low rolling hills on the west side (as compared to continuing the mountain range all the way across the map). A river (or base coolant flush) could exit out of the west side (low side) and force a natural open crossing point forcing mechs to slow down and get out in the open. Maybe a few rocky hills would allow quicker mechs to run up and jump over most of the river while slower mechs would be forced to sludge through it.

Forests would line either side of the river with some hills (or maybe some large rocks that have fallen down from the mountain over the years) giving cover to allow snipe behind.

The east side would be high trecherous mountains with maybe a pass (or two) over. Rocky and steep (maybe have to criss/cross back and fourth just to get up. Lots of place to hide behind and ledges to snipe from to the valley's below on either side.

Mountain/Base:
The mountain should have at least one entrance North/South (for choke points - more for alternate routes) which lead to a central base. The central entrance would break off to side tunnels which circle the base and lead off to upper/lower levels and ways around the main chamber. The main chamber would be a large room (which could contain a Dropship or a power core or hidden Planetary Defense Cannon).

Routes:
Quickest route would be straight through the base to one or the other. The Assault mechs would likely have to go this route initially.

Next quickest would be around the mountain on the low side (over the river - would add to it), Medium mechs could get here and watch for crossings picking off those slower mechs.

Longest route would be up through the mountain pass, but good for fast scout mechs. Snipping mechs could watch for them coming down the otherside.

Extras:
The Dropship would need exhaust tunnels leading out of the base below the ship (lower levels) which smaller/lighter mechs could use. A very cool effect would be if the ship fired it's engines every once in a while spewing the exhaust out burning anything in those tunnels (maybe a count down timer) or when a base gets capped (conquest mode) to make it random.

A slow way up to the top (outside) of the mountain inside (which would lead to doorway) or outside which would give great snipping advantage.

Side exit escape tunnels, one leading to the lower hills, maybe along the Coolant flush river, and a second leading up the mountain pass(es).

Day and Night modes easy enough, night mode would make the Mountain pass very nice because a light mech could easily slip by without being seen from far away.

Extra Sites:
Radio Tower base - Could be up in the mountain (maybe at the pass) where one of the conquest points are which needs to be captured.
Water Coolant processing Base - West side which processes the cooled water and pipes it back in.

Thoughts? Like/Disklike?

Other suggested Maps:

Just another example of why players should be able to make maps for this game.

Very nice.
