[Suggestion] Intermediate Hitboxes

I once suggested this (during CB), and in consideration to the current Meta-game (which to be honest, I have not much issue with despite not piloting a PPC boat or a Poptart mech).

Intermediate Hit-boxes.

How it works:
Instead of having "True or False" Hit locations (Example If you hit a pixel off RT, you'll hit CT), there will be hitboxes between locations (RT/CT or LT/CT for example), and hitting these hitboxes results in damage being split (can be implemented dynamically, but for simplicity's sake, we'll discuss damage split 50/50).

"Absolute" hitboxes will be reduced in size as a result, and it may be harder to one-shot stuff.

Thoughts?

Judging by past projects and future projections, it would take PGI about four hundred years to program that in, and another four hundred to get the bugs out, and an additional four hundred to deal with the unrelated(?) UI bugs that got introduced with those patches.

In any event, the sort of effect you are describing is exactly why missiles got nerfed- see the original "OMG NERF LRMS LOOK AT MY POOR COMMANDO!" thread...

Er, no. That was not about splash. That was about splash causing massive damage multiplication.

It was fine though. Lights got what they deserved- being smashed down into the dirt.

And yes, I do pilot lights myself.

It wasn't though, and that's not really what it did. The Commando was taking something like 5 times more damage than the Jenner. It was about hitbox complexity, not size.

TBH, I'm quite curious about how the changes to missiles will turn out. ;)

I used to pilot Commandoes myself (before cadet bonus came in), and never had a problem with getting chewed by SRMs (as in I accepted it was me who screwed up when that happens).

I think it is a good idea, but, they can do it easier by having damage splash regardless of type, just in different ways.

Example: AC 20 hits center torso: 70% CT, 1% Head, 5% Each Shoulder, etc...

Or something like that concept. And each weapon would have a different type of mechanic; but then angles come into the picture...then speed, and then...maybe these boxes are better idea, but then 50%/50% would be dramatic, so you would have to take in consideration the weapon type, the angle, and the speed, and the...

Wait, what was the suggestion?
