So... no one would enter because they would have to downgrade at least one mech to SHS, then re-upgrade after the tournament.

2 250 000 minimum C-Bill entry fee.

I'd pay it.

Though my preference would be for a stock 'mech only tournament... make all the 3025 appropriate stock 'mechs available for the tournament with whatever penalty to C-BIlls was deemed necessary. I suppose using customs would be okay, but I feel like the purpose of the thing would be violated if people were running around with min-maxed custom builds.

When compared to other mechs also not using XL engines?
Remember, there was a point before XLs were in the game, and ppl still played lights

Different times, especially when you consider the lagshield and other factors.

How about a 3025 tournament? No Gauss, No ER Weapons, No XL Engines, No Double Heat Sinks, No Pulse Weapons, No Atremis, No ECM, No TAG, and No Ultra AC.

I'd totally be down for that. Return of my stock K2!!!!

Consider your Steiner card revoked.

I think sending a lance of all Assaults for recon is a swell idea. That's all I need.

I like the idea of 3025 era 'Mechs, but not pure stock or newer variants. I've had to downgrade my Stalker and Centurion just to get them to manageable heat levels.

STK-3F

CN9-A

Despite that, I'm at 1.18 KDR and I average 488.86 XP per match over 69 matches with .91 KDR on the Centurion and 2.33 KDR on the Stalker. Nothing spectacular, but remember, these are 3025 era 'Mechs.

That is since SHS has largely remained trash. They may fix them later, and let's hope so. Really Heat and Heatsinks need a complete overhaul. Even canon "heat neutral" SHS builds are complete heat monsters in this game. A SPD-5V, 10SHS, and 2 ML will literally have you firing every 10-15 Seconds just to keep from going critical once you reach overheat. Practically every build used includes DHS, except for SHS with Gauss.

Yah, well, I tell ya, just try it with a friendly unit, retrofit your mechs to 3025 lvl and drop against each other. It is fun.Try to stck to one variant on each side though, it helps to tone things down =)
Highly recommended if you can spare the retrofit coins (I bought my mechs simply anew and leave em painted in my garage for those events =))

If only we were all so organized.

Wonder what 'mechs would be metagame favorites if you said stock only, MWO rules, 3025 only.

My money's on the CN9-A any day. The multiple range brackets would actually work for you with the tough heat rules.

Most of us can english. I speak it not very well. :D

So if you have question, feel free to ask and do not forget your idea. If you start playing a round 8 vs 8 with 3025 tech. You find a complete different game, you find battletech

YUP :D and i tell you guys EVERY single Person and Unit what plays in this Tournament said: "We had since CB not so much Fun. This is fantastic". The most Units wants to keep this up after the Tournament and make a 3025 Day. Units play against each other on 1 or 2 days in week with stock configs.

One of the Unit member mailed following letter to pgi and posted also in the suggestions forum:

Dear Developers, PGI and IGP!

The german MWO community is organizing a private tournament in which only dedicated mechs in stock loadout are permitted.Concerning more information on the event organized by paxmortis please see the post:

http://mwomercs.com/...sic-tournament/

In short the german community agreed on a list of "legal" mechs, with specific loadout, Every team is allowed 450t and every chassis-variant is only allowed once.
I just wanted to let you know, that a lot of people are playing 8vs8 more enthusiastically with these self made restrictions. At the moment 14 Teams with around 12 Players per team take part in the tournament, which means roughly 170 Players. These gamers are really fascinated by this game mode. The number of players interested in playing MWO this way is steadily growing. This gets very obvious when you follow the above stated post. Also if you check the activity in the 8vs8 queues during the scheduled trainings for sync-drops of 3025 teams you should see an increase in activity.
The tournament starts soon and of course will end when a winner is determined, but the german community agreed to have a 3025 Thursday after the tournaments ends, just because it is so much more fun to play this. It feels different from the PPC/laser loaded, optimized builds. We find it feels much more like battletech.
I hope this input helps you to keep a very critic eye in the development of the game. I do not expect you to just cancel every 3050 tech it is also fun to play. But there are many problems with the great variety you allow in customizing of the mechs. I think 3050 should feel a bit more like our 3025 games. Also an optional queue for PUG and 8vs8 matches with "stock only" would be a nice idea. Perhaps you are interested to join in some stock mech matches to get the feeling for yourself.
I am big fan of your game, thanks for the work and I hope you are interested in our new experience with playing 3025 tech.
With best regards

DrRip

sounds like a fun plan! sadly most of the stock catapults are sorta sad. not enough ammo, not nearly enough. then again everyone else has the same problem! ha.

as some people stated, at that point id rather see just stock mechs, because people will still min/max within the new parameters.

Ya,you have to think about for every single missile or AC shot. Its a whole different way of playing and it makes extreme fun. I played with my stock K2 and Cataphract 1x against modified mechs and Hey, 3 Kills
