Any of you who have played flight sims know what I'm about to ask. What is the distance they are set for? Is it 300 meters? 500 meters? 200 meters? If we know the distance that the guns are set to converge, then we can try to keep that distance to improve accuracy and shot grouping. Is it a fixed distance? Does it adjust based on the target that you have selected (should be possible with an arm mounted weapon)?

The convergence distance changes. Your mechs targeting system will alter it based on the distance away. If you're up close it'll shift to a closer distance, if you're aiming at something further away it'll shift towards that distance. It's not an automatic shift though so if you were hiding facing a wall and step out if you fire too soon your shots might converge before they hit the enemy.

I seem to recall that the devs have mentioned that convergence is based on the distance to the object that your crosshairs are centered upon. The example given was, I think, a 'Mech hiding behind a building. His crosshairs are on the wall in front of him, so convergence is set for just a few meters. When he steps out and aims at the enemy he is bushwacking, his crosshairs settle on the target and his weapons begin to shift convergence. If he shoots too early, they'll cross midway between him and the target and potentially miss. If he waits just long enough, they'll converge pretty much on target. If he waits too long, he may get blasted by the target or by the target's buddies.

That's about the right of it. LP and Kazz have it on the money there.
