Love filling defence/support and scouting roles in my Ravens atm, though i tend to adapt my role to whatever the situation warrants.

Haven't had much of a chance to use any heavier designs yet, but I'm fairly capable in a light or medium 'mech, using longer ranged weaponry to pick away at vulnerable targets.

It seems I perform rather evenly, with a preference for Hunchbacks, Cats and Centurions.

I can barely wait for the Stalker and Highlander, I wish to try my hands at those.

EDIT: Slight tangent, but a Hunchback with a TAG in place of the small laser can be a very nasty surprise.

i missed out on founders, so i;m just playing the field as i earn it.

my fav thus far ( nd if memory serves correctly ) light mechs is my fav - i enjoy scouting.

i was able to get into an atlas in my week of playing the closed demo - it was far too slow for me.
i have a cat armed with two er pcc - i find that boats cost way to much to run.

do the math - it takes about 30k to repair a mech, and about 30k to rearm a boat
the average payout i have been seeing as a free player is 80 ( around 60k for a complete failure and about 120 for a 'flawless' win )

running a boat would put me in the poor house - and its doesn't really take any skill what so ever to 'get a lock'.

no - the challange is running up on a heavy, and circle of deathing until team members can arrive.

Man, I am so glad we have so many scouts, because my favored mech is my Awesome with two lrm 15's a lrm 20 and six tons of ammo, and my nice direct fire long range Hunchbacks.

And by the way, getting a lock takes no skill I admit, but the real skill of being a boat is keeping in positions where you can hit enemies without being subject to direct fire, avoiding enemy scouts, choosing your shots based on where and how your friendly scouts are moving, keeping cool when enemies start to hit you, etc. In other words, it is all about tactical positioning, and not about twitch reflexes. I really respect people who are direct fire gauss and ppc snipers though.

Rolling medium/heavy, direct fire-support/flanker/skrimisher.
Not the one to take on the brunt of the enemy force, but I'm usually in the thick of it.

I'm using the Hunchback chassis right now, but I'll switch over to the Dragon chassis once I unlock all the slots for the Hunchback.

Someone suggested a DRG-1C build with an ERPPC, a SRM6, and a LB-10X. I'll be sure to try that one out.

I'm planning to play mostly with three different setups of cat, although I'm still working on getting money to by all the mechs/eqs and also learning how to use each one efficiently.

To summarize the incoherent sentence above, heavy duty and defence||assault. ;)

I pilot light 'mechs most often, though I expect to expand into the medium classas time and finances allow.

I'm flexible in my roles, sometimes scouting/spotting for our artillery, sometimes maintaining close fire support for the heavies by swatting off the lights.

I'm also no stranger to strategy, and like the command features that PGI has worked into the game. If a lance is willing to work with me, I'm willing to work with them and call out tactics and targets.

Medium or assaults.

I'll be found either escorting the big heavies, or being one myself.

hunchie, cent or atlas.

Currently waiting for something with a bit more dakka.. like the jägermech.

I either pilot a Commando, equiped with beagle and LRM's for fire support and target aquisition, or my Centurion usually in a defense roll to protect the heavy LRM boats.

I pilot an Atlas, loaded with LRM's and Beagle, Sensor Modules and target aquisition.

I almost always get scouting bonuses while LRM'ing the bad guys.

A 32kph, 100 ton scout.

Hi,

New to the RRF or actually, to MWO. Expect me creeping through the enemy's back yard calling targets and tagging in my Commando: "Lappuggla". Late game becomes tag, harras and/or base cap/defend. Might stick with the pack providing ecm services when required.
Plan on running a spider too when i get my mando's sorted.

oh, guess that means i voted light - scout.

How do you want your Kavalleri today, Sir?

Slight margin on heavyweight as of 1:40 p.m. PST with one in three respondents voting for assault. Fuckyeah space vikings.

I will play any mech or role, but prefer catapults with LRMs for fast mobile firesupport. This means I often would provide support from very close ranges in LOS.

An aggressive assault oriented mindset seems prevalent among the FRR mechwarrior class.

I prefer Assault Mechs with long-medium range laser/projectile weapons at highest damage and some short range support weapons, designed for heavy assault support from medium range and occasionally, defense.

Alternatives are heavy close-range autocannon mechs for assault and heavy LRM-packing mechs for support, with an occasional medium-sized scout-hunter and commander-scout.

Lately, I've taken a goal of getting "Master" in every chassis. I also like to play whatever the latest complaint mech is, so I can learn it's weaknesses and beat it when I find it. As in:
Streak cat -> LRM's
ECM mechs->counter ECM and brawler

Just look for whatever everyone is complaining about, run it, learn what kills it, then continue with mastering chassis again.
