I was watching a stalker 5s with two AMS absolutely obliterate 3-4 Lrm15 salvos heading toward him. Most of them missiles taken out before hitting the mech.
I gotta say I've never used AMS because I have always found it useless for me since beta days. It just does not take out enough missiles to justify it,
Anyway after this patch and observing that dual AMS mech, I went out and bought a stalker 5s, which I had previously maxed out and sold and fitted it with dual AMS.
TO my surprise I am still getting hammered by Missiles. It seems to only take out 15% of big salvos compared to what I observed on the other slaker which seemed more like 70%.
So i am wondering if your AMS shots work in the same way as your regular shots and if the server has to register a hit just like any other shot? People with bad ping or packet loss may be taking out less missiles if this is the case which wouldn't be fair.
it could be some reverse placebo effect but even dual AMS seems to do little for me.

Is Ams Accuracy The Same For Everyone? Or Is It Ping Based?

anecdote aside, i'm not sure PGI has confirmed that 2x AMS on a single mech works properly. Also, state rewind for AMS? haha
currently, AMS should be added to almost every mech you have. Whether or not LRMs get completely nerfed in 3.5 hrs is TBD.

I don't know whether it's confirmation bias but I have the same thing. I'm in Australia, I have a 200ms ping on MWO servers (I have a less than 5ms ping to any other game in any other country (I'm on one of if not THE fastest possible link in my country, it's a combination of two of the fastest internet packages available bridged, which normally costs around $400-500 per month but I get it heavily discounted, but that's not the point, I'm paying $300ish for the fastest **** possible and I am being penalised by the MWO servers because they route 80 times through the same ******* building and ****!) and have noticed that 1. my missiles never hit hard, 2. my AMS never defend me as hard as other peoples.
It could be confirmation bias as I said (or 'placebo' as you called it), as I haven't got solid numbers. But it really does seem that ping and / or packet loss does throw the game off. I have been dropped in a dual AMS with 3 volleys from a LRM60 m-boat yet when m-boating with an LRM80 it takes me quite literally ALL MY AMMO (about 9 tonnes) to drop a static non-moving medium/heavy. I have heard similar complaints from non-American's dealing with the ****** routing issues of the MWO servers punishing us rest-of-the-worldian types too.
But who knows, it's not like the devs are ever going to realistically look into it for us, they don't seem to really listen to player feedback at all. Which is frustrating when you've dropped a dozenfold more into this game than any other gaming franchise in history as I have, or if you've alpha/beta tested for companies your whole life and have a cult following for said testing / reviews and feedback (@bashpr0mpt on Twitter to prove I'm not just talking **** -- and yet the developers ignore my feedback just as much as you guys whereas other companies will jump on me and ask for more detailed data, or on the odd lucrative occasion pay me to test (most a/b testing benefits you purely by giving you 'free ****' including pre-access stuff, you get the odd red carpet event, lately I've been doing a lot of film reviews, etc, purely for the red carpet invites, what can I say, I did special treatment!)
Alas I digress. The bottom line is, I feel your pain, it seems to be a real ******* problem, but I honestly doubt that the developers give a crap. They're more interested in selling you fluff or pay to win stuff or colors and camo for $6 IRL or broken $40 mechs like Misery you have to gut that then can't even use a UAC5 because they're ONLY usable on chain fire mechs with 2 or more (otherwise they jam 100% of the time, 20% if chain fired) and don't seem to give a **** about us. It's disappointing, and yet like a complete sucker I'm still throwing money at them because I love the franchise and am one of those idiotic sycophantic {Noble MechWarriors}. At least I'm not in denial and don't defend the developers blindly purely because I'm a {Noble MechWarrior} and can keep it real.

AMS is not subject to accuracy, the bullets ams shoots are purely for show.
AMS applies a certain amount of anti missile damage per second instantly to missiles in its range, one missile at a time.

All AMS missile shootdowns should be handled server side, (all missile pathing and missile damage should be too), and as person before me said I am pretty certain its a automatic dmg per missiles amount with no random factors involved.
That said on your computer it may show more or less missiles being shot down in the graphical animation, this will not reflect actual damage however. You may also see weapons you fire hit, but end up doing no damage, or weapons that miss you do damage. These are again because your game is not perfectly sinked with the server, and ping times can effect this though even really low pings will still have this occur.
