there seems to be 2 distinct factions in the picture above, each sporting their unit colors.

the team on the left is white with teal highlights, the team on the right is mostly green (and probably something else but i can't make it out)

white/teal team: Atlas, Raven, Cicada, Hunchback
Green team: centurion, spider, cicada, blackjack, stalker.
unsure: catapult, dead jenner, various other wreckages.

wat faction/units are these mechs from?

Mech faction-wise, it would be a battle between Capellans and Davions.

However, I doubt it is really a lore-driven image.

It's 5th Confederation Reserve Cavalry running the gauntlet against 12th Vegan Rangers on Tsinghai 3029.
