So after looking through my router manual a few times thoroughly, I have come to the following conclusions:

- My router, despite what one site said, does not have an obvious DoS filter.

- It does have a section where programs/games using multiple ports such as MWO must be set up.

- I lack the information needed to set this up right.

Here is an image of the router page where I may have to set things up:

The only thing I am lacking is the port list to try doing this. Is there such a list anywhere? I also need to know if the ports are TCP or UDP.

Generally not, at least not at first. If a player runs into an issue that could be linked to the router, the game programmer will provide the necessary port information.

For the DoS, as for the OP, click on the firewall. That is an additional software firewall, generally known as SPI (stateful packet inspection) but newer routers are simply calling it a firewall.

But to setup Port Triggering.

These ports are still correct, and they connect over two different IP addresses, 70.42.29.74 and 70.42.29.75. The TCP ports don't include 45462 or 45463, we use only 45461 and 45464. The TCP ports are for backend server communications, things like logging in, interacting with mechbay, chat. The UDP ports are used for realtime match traffic to the dedicated servers when you're in-game.

Tarl, thanks. I presume I can set the 2 TCP as the trigger?

As for the Firewall, either nothing there on DoS protection or I don't know what it looks like. There are 4 ways to set it but three are empty, the other looks like this:

On the firewall tab, it is all or nothing. As for the tab posted, that is there to restrict access to those who connect to your router to the net. Not all routers/gateways are the same on their offerings, their settings.

Wooo

step back.

What's the problem? Forget the router. Plug the PC into the modem directly and see if you get the same problem before you blame the router.

Well, after looking to see if I needed somethnig similar for another MMO, I was reminded of Port Forwarding and then remembered I had the PF Port Checker program 1.0.39. So before doing anything, I decided to check a few of these ports listed.

Checked:
TCP 45461
TCP 45464
UDP 21000
UDP 30000

Every port I checked gave this (image from PF site but result is the same for all ports checked):

Strange, at times I have some ability to play so how can I if these ports are not open?

Are you sure it's the router?
Did you plug the PC right into the modem and try?
