I was thinking Assault mode with 1 base in the middle would be a fun idea for a mission. It would effectively be a team capture mission. (Probably need the cap timer slowed for multiple mechs though).
Any thoughts ? (Has this come up before?)

They said they will introduce other modes with CW (hopefully this century
).. and this could be very easily one of them..

This is normally called king of the hill or something similar.

yupp king of the hill it is... but it would favor heavier mechs over light ones

Just suggest team deathmatch and be done with it.

@OP:thats one of many ideas brought up many times during and after the CBT... i´d like something like that (if they actually add some fluff purpose to it, such as a production facility or other strategical important target that needs to be captured and hold)
i´d also like a classical battlefield style mode (domination?) where you need to conquer and hold the majority of several spots and such things...
also (as in heroes and generals) a "progressive capture" mode, where you need to take point after point from your base to a central target spot and prevent the enemy from disrupting your "supply line" and vice versa, interrupt the enemies progress...
there are millions of ways to make the gameplay more interesting than just wrecking some Mechs^^

well lights will be able to cap and hold.
or still flank if the enemy held the base.
but ye it would give the blobbing mentality a massive boost.
which leads to epic game play of move forward then reverse back to cover.
so maybe not, unless that middle was a dropship that randomly fired at peeps approaching.

A single base is best suited to a king of the hill game mode.
It's not a good replacement for the Assault game mode we currently have. With a single base, all combat, every game, will always take place at that one place. No matter how big the map is, you will not fight elsewhere. First thing in the game will be, to get close to the base. Every other tactic will lose the game to a cap of the other team, that actually did go for the base first.

It should be in addition to, not replacement of. We need many options to play.
You can rotate the Base among the current Conquest points for each map for varriable play.
This beats the current Assault Game play by a ton.

In addition to the existing game modes would be ok. That's why I said it would be good for a King of the Hill mode.

This, I disagree with. The capture points are not equally distributed. There need to be new cap-points on some maps to keep it fair. The maps might even need to be remade to accommodate more then one capture point for such a game mode.

As long as the points are not in the same place every game, I care not.
