Launch a UAV (MIssile weapon). Now you can use 3rd person Cameras, hell, any cameras.

Nahhh ... that just brings us back to looking round corners.

not in the spirit of the game.

I would be interested in a 3rd person view for POST death though. So after you die and your just ghosting round following your team mates.

The devs implemented the 1st person camera for better immersion, which was perfected in MW 3 and people want it back.

This comes at a price of not having a 3rd person camera while riding for balance reasons (you still get during DFA, for example).

I dont think a UAV similar to the original mechwarrior 5 intro is a bad idea, so long as mech movement is disabled while scouting with the uav and uav view is first person view.

I don't know. The battlefield isn't made the way an UAV would be useful and we already have scouts to tell us what's behind the corner.

We'll have to wait and see what the game brings. I don't think 3rd person would be good thing in this game.

I don't think a third-person camera in any way short of a vulerable "extension" to a mech's space should be possible. I'm talking the utility is heavy and requires a high chance of loss.

Even as utility , it won't be long before one mech will be assigned to carry it to view over the hills or around corners. Better to disallow it completely than opening a can of worms. No 3rd person.

The overhead image might be good, but ONLY if the scout mech is using it - nobody else. To engage in combat, the UAV/whatever fed would have to be shut off. Also, the whatever should be short duration. Ever see those small quad rotor UAVs, batteries only last just so long, what with powering the flight and the transmission fed uplink/downlink. Have it as a "you have to buy it" option and it takes up a slot or two where a missile pod or ballistic weapon might have been with maybe 1-3 UAVs in a launcher.

As an "on all the time" asset, no thanks.

I always played in 3rd person. The first person in MW4 allowed for too narrow of a field of vision. A person's normal peripheral vision is usually between 170-190 degrees. Having the wider field of view that came with 3rd person just felt more natural to me. Granted, I can understand people not wanting the exploits that come with it in the game... but I really do wish they'd allow it.

I vote no to third person, I always preferred FFP anyway...not that I can't use third person, but it makes the game less simulation and more arcade

If it requires a significant sacrifice in power/armor/crit slots then why not? The tradeoff would be firepower and survivability for awareness.

a good replay after match with different possible camera positions and cam to switch through all players, so you can make some decent videos... thats okay, but no 3rd in matches... period :P

A 3rd person option would be nice, I don't know why it would be such a bad idea...

You're supposed to be piloting the mech, you are in the cockpit, you should get a view from the cockpit. Having a third person view gives you the ability to look over and around objects that you could not see over or around from a cockpit view. The main reason I would rather not see it in MWO is because it tends to give large advantages to camping, especially with the LOSD detection system.
