Shot a quick video of the new map a few minutes before the servers went down.

The map is still a little buggy as you will see.

At 6:25 in case it does not link properly, I test out the damage over time to the internal structure of the legs of a spider. The damage is way, way too low. It is not even a legitimate threat to a light mech, let alone a mech with significantly more internal structure.

It's like your client was treating the lava as water, as your heat actually went down.

Good one

Lava damage will hopefully be ramped up quite a bit by the time it's out. Can't wait for the map too though.

Looks great, seems like a fun design. Lava is way too pussified however.PGI, it's ok for lava to kill people quicker.

QFT
I noticed that also. Think they're using water code and it's not changed yet.

The trick to handling heat on the lava map is to keep your feet in the lava, should get you and extra alpha or two...

You don't honestly think it will remain that way, do you?

Some module. Seismic or UAV... not sure which one, though.

So in other words, the lava is about the same level as a flamer. Useless, lol.

It's a WIP , I wouldn't take it to heart just yet.

Cheers.

That is cool looking map, at least in some spots. Otherwise, it does look like a dark Tourmaline. It needs more lava. Lava everywhere. The orange is a great contrast against the black rock. It would also be cool if volcanoes erupted at random spots during a match.

This is just for visual effect right? Any semblance of randomness that affects stuff is kinda bad (well, the closest thing is the Caldera @ Caustic).

It'd be neat if there were volanco's that had a chance for the side to erupt out, spilling out so much fresh lava it cuts off a path. Course the side would blow out, bunch of lava chunks fly through the air, and then the main lava would slowly pour down.
I really wouldn't mind a dynamic map like that. That'd be like +14million points to the map makers.
I kind of like the idea of two lances, enemies to eachother, are coming around a volcano and catch glimpse of each other and begin to close in, then a volcano in the middle of them just blows up, huge river of lava cuts between the two lances, and then everyone takes to jump jets over the lava flow that's slowly getting bigger and start trading weapons in mid-air, swapping sides, and it'd just be all sorts of awesomeness.
