Is there room for a button on my screen where a text dump of the chat of the match can be saved? Perhaps on the review screen after the match if in cockpit view was impractical for some reason.

This could be used in a couple of ways.

1) Make abuse easier to report if you could send up a time stamped text dump as evidence of bad manners

2) Could review it for whom gave GOOD advice and then send they friend/contact requests

C'mon even a low spec machine ought to be able to record a few hundred lines of text without it dragging the cpu down, its not as if a text file takes up much in the way of disk space either...

At present I guess we all need to use FRAPS or similar to make huge unwieldy videos of the whole match do do something like this. Surely it can be built in.

What is the point in reporting it to deaf ears, and what is the point when I want to let my child play a game that blows up robots without having to worry about the crap that people put in chat? Once they sent it the damage is done already, not much point in reporting them after the fact. I just want to turn it off when he plays, simple, easy and doesn't hurt anyone else in game, yet protects him from finding things out before he should.

As for letting my son play this, he plays lego starwars, lego batman, blowing up bad guys, battlefront II, MW4, and UT2004 without me having to worry about him growing up to be a terrorist. So those with the opinion he should not play such games, you raise your kids and I'll raise my kids. I have two very well behaved well mannered children that I can take anyplace and not have to worry about them getting into trouble or causing problems. Oh and btw, because of Mechwarrior my oldest wants to be a Robotics Engineer and decided so at age 8, he's almost 11 now!

You should report things, because they're not deaf ears. Multiple reports lead to bans. If you don't, then multiple reports don't happen, if they don't happen, nothing happens.

You can. The game's log files contain the chat that happened in that game.

These can be found in MWO's folder, named Omicron Build.log; previous matches will be backed up in the ~\Mechwarrior Online\Logbackups folder.

There's a lot of random stuff in there, but chat lines will be preceded with CHAT, so CTRL-F is your friend.

Edit: Apparently, chat was removed from the log files? When did this happen? I can find chat in my logs back a ways, but not in recent ones.
