Ok still uber noob here so help me out. I have been playing with configs in Smurfy's and love that app. However when I go to the actual mechlab to loadout my mech it is not as intuitive as Smurfy's (surprise), but the point here is where the hell do you get to adjust or can you adjust the amount of armor in each of the sections.
Please don't be a Doh moment here.....

When you click the MechLab tab, top right present 5(?) icons. The second last one (the mech silhouette without a Plus sign) is the Armor adjustment one. Click a section then then hit the arrow keys to adjust.

Ok, first go into your mechlab and select your mech to modify. You can't modify the trial mechs, only ones that you've purchased and own.

See the highlighted tab "Loadout", and click that.
Then, in the right upper area, see the 5 icons under where it says "weapon systems"? The far right one is a symbol of a mech with a "+" next to it. Just to the LEFT of that one is a mech symbol with a line drawn around it's outline. Click the mech icon with the outline around it.

This is your armor allocation. Note how the CT is currently highlighted. Highlight the section of your mech you want to change. Note, if you're section is already maxed out, you can't add anymore armor. And if you don't own any "spare" armor, you'll have to buy it.
To move armor, first take it off the portion you want to be less, and then add it to the portion you want to be more. You can't put on more armor than your section will take, and you can't put on more armor if your mech is already at max weight.
Legs and arms count as armor all around, but torso is center, right, left, and center back, right back, and left back. The front and back TOTALS add up to your max armor for that section.
Since my CT is highlighted, the CT has a max armor of 88, but that must be SPLIT between front and back armor to equal that 88.

Worth pointing out here...
The 3 locations that people cheat armor are the legs and the head. Koniving also has a perfect example of the Hunchback where he only uses 2 points of armor on the Rear Right Torso and puts all the rest into the Front Right Torso. If you look at a Hunchback from all angles you will see that there is only a very very tiny spot where you can hit the Rear Right Torso so not a lot of point in putting armor on it.
Mechs like the Catapult are horribly bad for cheating armor off of the Head because the head is gigantic and easy to hit.
Mechs like the Commando are great for cheating armor off of the Head because it is very tiny and nearly impossible to hit.
Mechs that jump tend to have more leg armor because you can take "fall damage" if you don't cushion your JJ Landing.
I could go on but you get the idea.

Good work OrganDonor, and Jazz makes a fantastic point here. On the Kintaro is another example, you can pull copious amounts of side torso armor off without any real risk.
I just tried that as in using the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard. Totally did not know I could use the arrow keys but apparently I can! Though I think you meant clicking the up and down arrows.

Yes, if you get something like the Kintaro or Dragon, you can easily strip 2 tons of armor from the side torsos without any danger to yourself. Some mechs(i.e. Jenner) can steal armor from the relatively small head. Other mechs(i.e. Atlas, Victor, Awesome) can steal armor from legs, since people focus your torso. But a word of warning, you strip legs too much and people will just stop and leg you for the lols.

Still gotta do it point by point.
Had to do it that way on MWO's first UI as well.
"Strip mech" was added recently. Strip armor, and max armor should be coming soon.
But if you hold down the button it should gradually get faster.

The strip mech button will strip armor. It's a checkbox along with modules and equipment in the dialog box.

Hi, first post.
UI 2.0 doesn't have this, at least it's not obvious, a fast armor adjustment after tripping the 'mech would be good, it's a PIA to click 526 points 1 by 1 on my Stalker. Oh, and if you don't save your armor loadout before trying to play, when trying to do so you get a meesage error and all the armor adjustments are lost and you have to start all over; I don't have to tell you how happy makes me click 1,052 times my left mouse button...
Also there is an error on the last 56 armor clicks, I needed to quit the game and try again, then the game told me I didn't have bought the item and if I wished to do so, I did and the initial cost was ~20K c-bills for a total of ~40K for the 56, please fix this.

You don't have to click the arrows...you can hold them down I believe.
