I fully endorse this idea. This way 'mech variants actually matter.

Great idea! Would allow for closer-to-TT battles with balance and fun and role warfare and all that stuff. But there would be need for a far greater range of readily available stock mechs apart from the trial ones - 4 different mechs just doesn't cut it for 24 players.
How about some single draft/or random mech mechanic? If UI2.0 is able to deliver this should be very well in the realm of possible.
Plus it would allow for some super easy matchmaker tonnage balancing.

The pure amount of awesome this suggestion of yours could lead to! Kudos.

More like "******" but I could try it.
To what I'm referring with that "******" is like some trial/stock mechs are just unplayable, like Spider-5D.
http://mwomercs.com/...e-trial-spider/
and some are actually decent builds, not good but decent (atlas-rs?).

This stock mode would work way better if it would be forced stock weapons and engine rating, rest you could tinker with.

edit: looks like re ta rd is under censorship.

Back in my MW3 days, there were "stock only" leagues and such. Was pretty enjoyable.

I wouldn't mind if it automatically reverted my fit to stock as opposed to me having to also own a stock mech to play in.

I didn't take part in any of them yet, but my clan regularly syncdrops in 12vs12 against a friendly clan in 3025 tech-only matches.
Not really stock, but close.

I'm told these are very enjoyable games.

I don't have an issue with this but it doesn't seem feasible for PGI. They've been at this for two years and we still can't save custom load-outs for mechs to switch between. Stock mech modes would imply that your mech would go into combat with all of its stock gear strapped to it. What if you sold it? Those engines are worthless. Do you just get a new one? Do you no longer qualify? And what about standard mech variants that PGI have destroyed like all of the Awesomes? I'm all for it if PGI can handle it but I don't think they can.

I support this...as long as it's based on Assault rules and it's called "Classic Mode" (or some such name that's not called "hardcore").

Player selects their mech, even if it's customized, then when they select Classic Mode and launch, it's a stock variant of their current mech.

It would be nice to see an option in the mech lab, if you have enough credits, to revert your mech back to a stock configuration...

I'd play stock or 3025... or stock 3025. That'd be the greatest thing.

This would indeed be HC mode. They would be very slow long games and heat management would crucial. I dig.
