I posted this in another thread and people seem open to the idea, so I thought I'd get more feedback on it and maybe be more likely to get PGI to see it.

My thought is to take a note from the Battletech lore. In the books (or at least in the Blood of Kerensky trilogy) they make it clear that the Gauss Rifle's energy requirements make it unable to be used simultaneously with other high energy weapons, because they're both trying to draw from the same energy source at the same time, so the Battlemech's computer staggers the weapons fire to compensate.

So do it like this:
Fire Gauss Rifle and Lasers/PPCs together? Gauss Rifle fires first, Energy weapons fire .75 seconds-1 second later.
Fire Gauss Rifle on its own? Gauss Rifle fires instantly without any hiccup.
Fire Energy weapons on their own? Energy weapons fire instantly without any hiccup.
Fire two Gauss Rifles together? One Gauss Rifle fires first, second Gauss Rifle fires after the delay.
Give it like a 1 second or so window between the use of the Gauss Rifle and the energy weapons to avoid the delay.

**Note: My numbers are arbitrary and could be changed for better balance. I'm more focused on the general idea.

This is better solution than gauss rifle charge idea. I support it.

Holy {Scrap}, there is no end to the nerf whine by you limp noodle dweeb troll bots. Just replace all weapons with tickly fluffy bits and soft stuffed puppy cannons already and be done with it.

Many of us are paying cash money for good things we think we can use well only to have the good sucked out of them within a month. Will there be automatic refunds offered for items we pay for that are nerfed? When does it end? I want to see this game succeed as much as anyone. It's getting harder to believe.

Make a knife only mod for people that don't like guns.

Don't nerf another thing until you fix hitboxes. How on earth can you justify all these kludge "nerfs" until you fix hitboxes?
Note: you ever been hit in the eye with a nerf football? It freaking hurts!

P.S. Those knives I mentioned hurt too much and are killing me because I suck at using them well. Can you please make them out of rubber (really soft rubber)?

The PGI nerfbat is "OP". Nerf it now.

Cone of fire with Gaussian distribution would be best solution.

By the way, the answer to you nerf nerds is in tonnage limitations.

A stock mech only area without getting rid of the customs should also get you thinking beyond two centimeters in front of your eyes about how to flatten the whole world into one perfectly smooth sphere at the same exact elevation for those who just can't stand diversity.

What about a random stock mech drop with tonnage limitations? Would you still cry to nerf "random"?

On a side note, anyone here think gravity is OP? I wanna soar in zero G with my jump jets.. er, I mean air puffers.

I'm wasting my time and breath, aren't I?

I like your thinking and it is a good thoughtful post.

I have to decline though, as this on top of the ghost heat mechanic makes things a little too complicated.

If they had introduced a similar idea to this for all weapons instead of ghost heat then it could have legs, but the two together is just too much.

Wut? I was just thinking of an alternative to the Gauss Rifle charge they're planning that might be more fitting for people who don't think the charge is a good idea.

I really don't care one way or the other about 2PPC+Gauss. I just want to get past the constant complaining that fills these forums. Then you're just complaining about people complaining when I'm just offering up an alternative I thought people might find better. At least I think that's what your doing. Your rant (and your second post rant) hardly made sense anyways.

This works if and only if it's applicable to all weapons and could be used to replace the stupid ghost heat scale by making it impossible to fire more than XXX number of CERTAIN WEAPONS at once

i voted yes for the decent idea but the double ppc gauss mechs have never really been big concern for me. so my yes vote is heavily laced with a large dose of meh.

Yeah...never understood why PPCs became villainized; I don't really get killed by them all that often and when I do...it's because I was being careless or brash.
