After mastering Centurions, I decided to sell the least-fun of the three (for me) which was my CN9-A (also ironically, the first one I bought and the one that really turned me on to Cents). I stripped it, and before selling it thought it would be fun to go out in a blaze of glory.

So I strap on the few random weapons I have lying around (LRM20, MG, and one Small Laser) and my spare XL235. What did I do with the rest of the tonnage? I shoved all the explosive ammo I never use or own weapons for (AC20, AC10, LBX, and oodles of spare LRM) into the torso slots, along with a heat sink to meet engine requirements. I even reduced my side torso armor a bit. No c-bills invested.

Then I start dropping, announcing my intentions to go out in a fireball and inviting people to shoot at me, and play normally (just because I want to goof around doesn't mean my team has to suffer). Six matches, nothing but deaths due to engine destruction. I even managed a few kills (three Atlases and one JagerMech). Halfway through I swapped the small laser for two flamers (that I bought!) thinking that if I could spike my heat I could raise the chances of being popcorn. No such luck.

And frankly, it was a heck of a lot of fun! Maybe I'm destined to keep this Cent and just use it as a trollmachine. Or maybe Cents are so unkillable that I can't even try to go boom (all my deaths were regular furball kills).

To further add to the previous points of irony, my most ammo-explosive-y Cent is my CN9-D in an earlier config where I foolishly kept Streak ammo in the torso without CASE for a week...and it's my favorite/most fun of the Cents I own

I continue to seek the glorious ka-boom.

Back in the heyday of SRMs the CN9-A was king with a 3SRM6 + 2MPL or ML setup, and it can still be effective as such if you adjust your thinking while piloting. But it's certainly no where near the days when it could rack up an easy 800 damage without trying:) We all have variants we hate. For the longest I thought the AL was the worst. Recently I found something that works and it's not so bad, but I understand it's not optimal. Troll on! I had the most fun out of all the mechs in my Spider 5K with a Flamer and 4MG when they still sucked (Even more than they do now).

why would you sell the best centurion (and arguably the most overall effective medium mech) in the game?

Because I have way more fun with the AL and D! At least on a demi-competitive level anyway.

In related news, I finally achieved an ammo-explosion death...after rebuilding the Cent into a demi-competitive config (3xLRM 10, machine gun, two flamers, removing all the combustible ammo I didn't need). A lag spike caused my game to freeze while I was flaming an Atlas, returned to find myself shut down. Then a few seconds later, boom!

I think I'm keeping it though.

You wanted ammo explosion and could not get it? Well, take that! I died of one because I lost an arm. Apparently it transferred damage to my side torso, then somehow transferred damage to the center torso, which was wiped out when the ammo exploded... in the CT.

I hope I won't find you in a troll zombie cent, as they are amazingly annoying and hard to kill.
