I'm trying to completely disable both motion blur and dof, i don't know which (or if it's both) it is that are sticking to me, but distant landscapes appear to be blurry and the mechs in my mech bay are more blurry than i'd like.

I'm using a custom config file, here is my post processing section.

I'm really wondering if this is a bug or if the devs messed something up in that patch.

Spoiler

I had it set like i wanted to before the patch, but i forgot the settings that i used, after hours of attempts trying everything to get it back, i eventually figured that something must be causing the motion blur and/or depth of field to stick on no matter what i do.

The reason i can see this so clearly is because i took a screenshot of my config earlier today, and now no matter what settings i set (at least in the post processing area) i can't get rid of this blur. What i notice is that in the mech bay, there are panels on the wall behind the mech on the lower right part of the mech bay, in my pre-patch screenshot they're really clear and sharp, in my post-patch screenshot they're blurred most likely by DoF.

Pics:

The way it is
The way i want it to be

Note the shadow on the mech's right leg as-well. It's sharp on the first image but not on the other.

Old thread from some unfortunate guy that didn't get a reply

I've been wondering about this for a long long time. I have motion blue turned off from the menus (in theory) but that doesn't actually turn it off at all. My custom .cfg increases the fov a bit and that is all, so nothing coming from that. But every time I take a screenshot, the results come out with clear motion blur in effect, which means that somewhere along the line it is not getting turned off. Would love a way to get rid of it.

For that matter, the depth of field is fairly obnoxious on certain maps as well, and it'd be nice to actually turn that off too. Just comparing OP's screenshots, it looks like a world of difference- would love to get my game looking like that. Let me know if you manage to figure out what was causing it.

Turn off post AA in the options menu. Under advanced video settings. Worked for me

i've already tried that Zakie but i wouldn't be surprised if that works for some.

however

r_UseEdgeAA = 0

didn't work. and postaa is ofc off in the menu, everything is off as i'm using the cfg file. Also i should add that i do know that the cfg file is working (i have the awesome sunshafts on, and higher res textures).

It seems to have a slight effect, but still doesn't do the trick for me <_<

This is so annoying cus before the patch today i was playing without DoF and Motion Blur =(

Edit: It would seem certain options in this section of the cfg file are not working for some reason.

for example if i'd have set
r_HDRRendering = 0
Pre-Patch, the game would have crashed, now it shows no reaction.

I managed to partially get this right. (I maxed out the post processing setting in the game menu, then put it to low.) which haad the result i wanted (got me rid of that damnable DoF) But now the post-processing section of the cfg file isn't working because the post processing preset is not set to "0".

I went back to my attributes.xml and set post processing setting to 0 (from 1, since the game wont allow it to go lower in the menu) However as i had expected it would. It did not actually fix this.

Finally i know what's up then, for some reason the game is having problems reading the Post Processing section of the .cfg file causing this to happen, i would assume options that cannot be read are Depth of Field and anything HDR related.

Sunshaft option and EyeAdaption option work but apart from that i don't know what does. I certainly hope PGI isn't trying to push custom cfgs away, All the beautiful graphics that are locked away because of bad presets would make me cry if it's come to that... Sunshafts :ph34r:

Right now it seems my only option is to choose between living with DoF or living without Sunshafts, one of the coolest effects in the game (i seriously don't understand why it isn't enabled on very high).

<_< Well not sure what to do. I run sweet fx to help fix my issues with pgi's artistic direction. I use it to gain contrast, alter hdr effects and sharpen up the image. Its always an option...

i'll have to look that up and see if i can make use of it.

I just don't understand why they would remove the possibility of disabling dof through cfg... All i need for my graphics to be complete is being rid of DoF.

Yeah, patch broke config for me, too. Unplayable right now (fps are ok but it looks fugly). Need to barf looking at it. Artefacts everywhere, motin blur, and dof.

Karenai don't be afraid to disable motion blur in the game's settings, it'll remove motion blur, and if you want to disable dof set post processing to low (The only downside of doing so is the loss of Sunshafts)

Apart from DoF and the film grain effect removal, my settings strike me as if they're working.
