It seems you are bringing it to an ***** short range brawler game, by deleting the sniper role patch after patch.
In my opinion ppc and gauss were fine where they were, but if you think that 35 Alpha is overpowered here it is another solution.
the problem is that now the gauss is almost impossible to use and we go with 2 ppc + 2 uac5 or 2 ppc + 1 ac 10 + 3 mdlas, or even 4 mdlas + 2 uac 5, or 2 mdlas and 3 uac 5 on jagermech..................uac 5 are the must have and ballistic weapons rule now. Laser based mechs are almost useless.
Solution A ( MY FAVOURITE)
no wait time to the gauss, as it was before, give that delay time to PPC and ER PPC, but 8 heat to ppc and 12 heat to ER PPC ( now they will not give Alpha problems because of the wait time, and this is balanced by the reduced heat.)heat of ppc might be changed, but the basilar thing is NO DAMN WAIT TIME TO GAUSS.
WE MUST HAVE AT LEAST 1 SNIPER WEAPON

gauss does not explode, damage rised to 17 in order to balance the terrible accurancy.
Solution C
all the things are fine where they are now, this is not a tactical game, just take some mismatched weapons, get under 200 meters and shoot like a dic*ead just to see colours and lesten to bum bum dakka dakka like a dumb noob. (and i think this is what the devs are aiming at, even if this would mean that someone is having BRAIN PROBLEMS).
