The only issue is if you collide with another mech the game crashes(80/20 chance). Also getting some practice with my new X45 joysticks, It's allot more fun than using a mouse(For me anyway).

Mech3 on Win7 using Win98 compatibility mode.

So, what are you dong to pass the time? HHmmm?

I couldn't get mine to work, I downloaded the updates and put it in the Win98 compatibility but still got the squares blurring out the screen when I move.

I got this, bouncing 'Mechs and had to run the game in Software Rendering mode (which wouldn't have been too bad if it we'ren't for the rapid load up screen). All this 'cause ATI cards 'improved' over time. :D

Yeah without Software rendering I got blocks of doom too, the Direct 3D improvements just crashed my load up screen.

I could never get it to work, the graphics were super bugged. i tried to log onto the mechwarrior 3 forums, but you have to be "approved" by a mod, and it appears none of them are still active so i can't read certain posts and get some downloads i need.

to get rid of the squares (screen tearing) go to graphics and switch from hard wear rending to software rendering, the squares should go, but you may get the issue of bounceing apc's and you mech may bounce every now and then (and not come back down), theres surposed to be a homemade fix for it, but so far, all the places its avilable on are old forums, with no activity at all (signed upto one, and still waiting to be approved).
If anyone here has got that patch, can they post it up for those of us needing a working MW3 fix (untill the cursed yellow bar goes away)

Skip the movies/intro as soon as you can from what I've experienced it helps the rendering so you don't get those ugly squares and stuff. Another thing is if it stops loading a map, use ctrl, alt, del, and when the options come up hit cancel. It will finish loading and then you need to exit and reload the map/mission so it loads properly.

Here's some things:

Found this,

I also forget how I got it to work, I have an Invidia Geeforce GT220 so it might be limited to Invidia cards?

Playing MWLL, which is the closest thing to MWO available today. It's even built on essentially the same graphics engine. The only real difference *may* be the mech balance depending on how MWO devs tweak weapons / armor / speed / utility. Only closed beta players know at this point how different.

God I loved Mechwarrior 3. Started playing Mechwarrior games with Mechwarrior 2, which I still think has one of the best intros :-) I remember buying a new PC to be able to play 3. Epic game. Must try and get it running on my Alienware.

if you have an NVIDIA card, and current drivers, Mechwarrior 3 runs fine without being in compatibility mode, just go into your settings in the control pannel for your video card, and turn off AA settings.

For the guys to try running MW3 under Win7:
in your options from the graka drivers, try fo force 60Hz and Vsynch on,
that did the trick with the jumping APC's /mechs and almost all other bugs for me. I played through the whole game without glitches then.
