I've scored a few 4,000 to 5,000 XP hauls in matches during this double XP weekend.

But this result has me puzzled. 89 match score, 11 assists, 622 damage, in a Hero mech, but yet only 1,639 XP on a double XP weekend.

It seems low to me. Does it make sense to you...?

Well you definitely got more XP for the win and for the spotting assist and component destruction. The kill assist figure seems a little low for double XP for 11 assists, but if you kinda just barely tagged all of them then maybe that's right?

With 622 damage, I had to have done more than barely tagging them...?

There are no XP rewards for damage. The amount you get for kills and assists are dependent on how many other mechs hit the target (the more that hit, the lower the XP rewards will be). Since the number of assists are high for everyone on your team, that means less XP for each member.

So you're saying, if all 12 people on my team each damage all 12 enemy Mechs on the other, we all earn only little XP rewards?

I didnt know that.

It doesn't really make sense to me as reward schemes go, however, if that's ''working as PGI intended'' then at least it explains what had seemed to me like an anomaly.

Thanks for the explanation.

I didnt know that.

Here's how it works:

Regular assists split 150 XP among every (still living) 'mech who attacked the target.
Savior/Defensive assists give 150 XP to everyone that hit the target in the last 10 seconds before it died.

So yes, if all the 'mechs on your team hit the same target, you'd only get 12.5 XP for that assist (150/12).

XP is split dependant on damage done to the target.

If you had premium time going, you would have gotten: 3,278 xp

Seems right to me.

Ah ok. I've never looked at it too closely and I always just figured it was some function of the percentage of damage dealt.

This is correct. Assist XP depends entirely on your portion of the damage done to the target. As such - and I realise the OP didn't do this - playing laser tag to grab maximum assists isn't an effective way to level a mech.

It IS, however, an effective way to earn c-bills. However, you still need to win the match, so just playing laser tag makes winning less likely reducing your overall cbill gain if you're not actually helping your team win.

Pretty sure this part isn't true. I've gotten XP for assists after I've died.

Yeah, I'm certain you get assists for every Mech that's eventually killed... even if you died before they did.
