If Disney owned Mechwarrior, then,
 • Catapult would have round missile boxes making it more Mickey Mouse-ish
Posted Image
 • Grand Dragon already looks Goofy-ish
 • Dragon arms would be more dog-eared making it Pluto
Posted Image
 • Jenner cockpit would be more Duck billish making it Donald.
Posted Image
 • And finally, I would be naming my three Locusts, Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

Torso-less Mechs have a place in BT. But evidently not in MW:O. But I still want to know which Dev needs his mind changed. Because, boy do I want a shot at trying to do just that.

Arguement number I-don't-know. If a Tanks crew needs can be condensed into the commanders postion, at the top of the Mech, then why could it not also be condensed to the Drivers position at the front of the mech?

As a sub arguement of the above. In the videogame, we make skill all about the weapons. Because we can not make the skill about the operating or driving of the mech. But with the technology of point and shoot weapons and computers aiming the relevent weapons, isn't the true skill in a real life version of a mech in the driving of it. It is the same as the greater skill is in operating or piloting an aircraft, not in the operating or aiming of the weapons it carries. Certainly, IS pilots who beat Clanners did not outshoot them, they outpiloted them.
TL:DR Two equal Mechs, two equal pilots, in most things, one is a better shooter, the other is a better driver. Who wins? My bet rides on the better driver. And Torso-less mechs are mechs designed around the drivers position of a tank.
Just my random thought.

Would love to see someone do a hitbox registration on this mech that says the area between the legs is NOT Center Torso.

I seem to recall reading that we will be able, sooner or later, to purchase different Mechs Heads.
If so, Will I be able to purchase heads for my Locusts that would include SIDE windows?
I want to see who is shooting me from my 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock.
I will post a link to the thread if I can find where that was discussed.

Also Mechs don't exist and are a foolish idea for military vehicles.

Garth, buddy, words fail me.
Other than the rather unbeleivable heighth of them, what is so foolish about taking a Tank in 1972, and thinking 1000 years into the future in all its aspects of armor, weapons, powerplant, and means of traversing terrain?
In the 40 years since the government initiated that report, advances in all areas mentioned has consistently been reported.
Of the weapons theorized, only the PPC has not been at least test fired.
Fusion energy continues to elude us as the miracle they thought it was then.
Robotics continues to make progress towards walking vehicles that could replace legs.
Though I should point out that the report also looked into ground effect vehicles which are now common in many militaries.
Is armor up to that reports standards?
No, but todays armor is more than just larger and thicker plates of iron and steel that predominated in 1972.

Another way to look at it.
Could anyone have predicted the variety of aircraft that exist merely 100 years after Kitty Hawk?
Aircraft that go over Mach 2, that take off and land vertically, that go to the edge of space?
All Battletech is, is wanting to advance tanks to the same degree that aircraft have advanced.

Foolish Military Vehicles? Only to those who do not beleive in the future.
Will we ever see these specific compositions on the battlefield, who knows, probably not. But as the abilities and technologies advance, don't be surprised to see something as ground breaking in the next 60 years

TL:DR Yeah a lot of BT/Mechwarrior is fluff and fun, but it was built on a much sterner core than "Foolish".
Just my thoughts.

Clan Package,
Boy, did I get a lot right on that one.
Turrets on Nova, Prices, Nerfs.
Sigh, I just wish I had not been.

Did not see the gold mech package though.
But did see all that empty space for additional mechs once the current ones sell.

I wonder how many are raging, "QQ"ing, and all, while reaching for the credit card.
More than a few I would wager.
After all, If they buy them, while talking you out of buying them, then sucks to be you come June.

Hate the Turreted Nova, just on principle, while humbled by the Nova Cat insignia on the side.
See my story in Fan art for details.

When you walk into a sh|tstorm of the type brewing over a LOT of issues this week, and you keep your head up high, you won't have to wait for the fall to get mud in the face.

Omy

History lesson. The Jenner was created/named after Bruce Jenner, The winner of the 1976 Olympic Decathalon.
So to answer your question with a question.
Do you think Bruce Jenner (of late of the Kardashian fame) has sexy legs?
Not that there is anything wrong with that if you do.
just saying.

Owens mech named for Jesse Owens, stand out athelete in 1936 Olympics.
Yet, Jim Thorpe (arguably, the greatest athlete of the 20th Century) can only possibly claim the Thorn Battlemech as maybe being named after him. Such a lowly mech, for such a great man.
History lesson over.

Wondering if the debate/storm over the T-Wolf's Missile Boxes has started yet.
For those unaware of what I am referring to, a brief forum history lesson.
A long running thread, now archived, pitted BT and MW fans against each other over whether the missile launchers, on the T-Wolf, are a part of the Torso, Arm, or a separate new section all by itself.
Why would that debate begin anew now?
The Concept art.
It clearly shows, to my eyes, the boxes are mounted on the arms, not the Torso.
With all that implies game wise.

*Shrugs*. Maybe, that debate will wait till the Mech actually shows in-game, and people can take it out for a spin and check out the hitboxes.

i have no idea where to post this but this thread seemed random enough.
So collecting full size 'mechs is very expensive, as is collecting full size cars, but collecting radio control (R.C.) cars is much cheaper. So when do R.C. 'mechs come into existence? Proper ones, not toys.
