Try putting an AC10 or a Gauss rifle on the Bmaster and watch all your shots hit the ground. Its worse than the CTF-4X...

Relatively the guns are higher mounted than a cataphract really. The only reason it feels worse is because of the super high position of the cockpit which kinda makes you overestimate the height of your arm.

They are supposed to be low.

At least it gets high mounted energy slots.

Do you really think I am aiming at the ground or are you just trolling?

well if your rounds are hitting the ground that means your guns are aimed at the ground, which means you are aiming at the ground.

This is called the "Knuckle Dragger" effect and was a real issue in MW4 too. The Warhammer and Gargoyle had low arms and even though they had good weapons slots, they were not used very often due to this effect. Having to expose a lot of your mech just to get your shot off is a huge disadvantage. This is why jaggers are so popular and why the Shaddow Hawk Gun location works so well. I don't think PGI understands these little idiosyncracies of the chassis they design. The fact that they can't size the mechs appropriately proved this to me a long time ago.

Thanks for the thoughtful input AC and others. I must admit I exaggerated in my OP that "every" shot clips....but it is a real disadvantage for the battlemaster ballistic arm in many circumstances.

They are a little low compared to some mechs, but I'd say the BM is right in line with the Atlas for how low the arms are.

I admit, I get that with my Atlas as well. i'm used to piloting Jenners so the low atlas lasers are always splashing into the poorly placed rock in front of me.

Arm weapons on the Bmaster are the same height as many other mechs. Not great for hill humping, but not as bad as you are making it out. Phracts arm mounts are as bad or worse. Battlemaster just happens to have really favorable torso energy hardpoints.

Sure PGI understands this. Most of the mechs handicapped by low angle hardpoints would be way too good with Jaeger/K2/Stalker lever fire angles.

Battlemaster has like 6 high energy slots so there had to be a trade off somewhere .

I would love it if the two ballistic slots are in the torsos and the 6 energy slots are in the arms on the Battlemaster

thank god the left the battlemaster as it was from tabletop. arm mounted lasers would suck.

Ballistic arm too low? Hmmm... maybe. But never forget that you have high mounted energy slots!
It seems that just a couple of Battlemaster pilots know how to use the high mounted hardpoints for shooting over buildings, rocks and ridges...

For me the Battlemaster (1G) is definitely one of the top assault mechs....
