Greetings.

Very new Pilot and been doing some matches yesterday and today.
also bout a new light mech and was squashed ;)

I noticed that at the next match, my mech is all good and nothing needed fixed. is this a MWO mechanic? I've come from, first off B-Tech univ., then to all the MW and MC series for PC.

Also, is there a forum or a post where it mentions what the devs. have in store for this game? I'm hoping for more of a MW:mercs kinda thing, but I don't wanna get ahead of myself.

and finally, using a Logitech extreme 3D pro joystick, but I wish I could swap the joystick twist with the turn. as it's setup now my twist turns my mech while my left and right joystick movements move my torso. Rather frustrating since I use my POV hat to turn me mech.

anyhoo, nice to meet yas and thankyou in advance for any light your able to give me subjects.

Welcome to the game!

In answer to your first ?:
There used to be a rearm and repair mechanic, but it got removed shortly after I started, but before I bought my first mech, so I cannot give you much info on how it used to be ;)

To the second ?:
http://mwomercs.com/...elopers-corner/

And sadly to the third... I cannot give you anything because I use a 4 button mouse and keyboard.

Lets see what Koniving says shall we? :)

Edit: posted the last bit cause I saw you reading it, I did. :D

Repair and Rearm used to be part of the game, but was removed. Now, once the match ends, your mech is fully repaired and resupplied without cost or time delay. The only things you will need to buy are spent consumables.

Check the Developers' Corner section of the website, as well as the Announcements forum, and the Upcoming Features subforum in General Discussion.

As to your joystick Q... no help from me. I found this game easiest to control with mouse and keyboard.

EDIT: Damnit, Shar Wolf! ninja'd ;)

"I noticed that at the next match, my mech is all good and nothing needed fixed. is this a MWO mechanic?"

This is a typical mechanic of many games. Oddly enough originally MWO featured a repair and rearm system where you had to pay for all damages and ammunition spent at the conclusion of a match which was deducted from your pay. This had some serious problems as early on if you ran an assault mech you might win about 200,000 cbills and get a 500,000 cbill repair and rearm bill over and over and over again. And heaven forbid if you lost. Naturally this was offset by mediums and lights who could easily pull off 200,000 to one or more million cbills in a single match with up to 120,000 cbills in repairs/rearm.

Clearly this had some issues and it really hurt newer players more than not, this combined with several bandaids only aided in abuse and not long after 'farming' began to abuse the guaranteed earnings. As such it was removed. (Though the lead game balance designer Paul hinted will be returning with the 'main game' as it is "not completely off the table but merely on hold.") I personally hope they consider the Optional Entry concept I've had in which the player is given the choice in how much potential financial risk they take by what upgrades, lost-tech, rare-tech and clan-tech they decide to throw onto the mech. This is opposed to the original design which charged you out the wazoo for every aspect of your mech with no freebies.

I will tell you right now there's a huge difference between all past games and this one. PGI has opted for a rising threshold, so for every heatsink you add not only do you cool faster but the maximum limit of heat also rises. 40 is the minimum, 70+ is the average. The Battletech knowledge might need to be thrown aside. Thankfully this can help you. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/ See especially "Weapon Systems" and "Heat Penalties Per Weapon."

Command chair posts often have the most direct information.

I recorded this some time ago which had information about community warfare..

There is this as well about the upcoming content.

"and finally, using a Logitech extreme 3D pro joystick, but I wish I could swap the joystick twist with the turn. as it's setup now my twist turns my mech while my left and right joystick movements move my torso. Rather frustrating since I use my POV hat to turn me mech."

Edit your controls. At the bottom of the options is "Analog turn" and "Analog twist" and "Analog throttle." Use these with the joysticks.

"anyhoo, nice to meet yas and thankyou in advance for any light your able to give me subjects."

You're welcome.

I'm currently adding music to, converting and uploading vids of me fooling around in a spider. Specifically it's the matches from which these shots came from:
(Spoiler added as a courtesy), click to view.
Spoiler

But if you can tell me what light mech you're using I could offer some advice towards it.

Oh, just a heads up. I tend to edit my posts about 30 times after I say anything. So never be surprised if what is there now isn't what's there in 10 seconds or so. ;)

thankyou again for the info.

as for the light mech, it was a jenner, but I sold it(thought I had to repair it, so I hit the dollar sign and sold mech and items(thought they were all damaged)

I looked in options, only I see is the invert thing, so i'm fuzzy on that option.

and thankyou for the links, Very Nice.

Oh sh. Damn. Ouch. I bet that hurt quite a bit. And the options you're looking for are on the right side not the left.

Where it says configure controls. The specific ones you want are at the bottom of the scroll bar.

I advise reading the wording given in menus in the future. I believe it asks "Do you want to sell?" And lists the values of what you would earn if you sell the base mech or if you sell everything about it. Though I can see how mistaking the dollar sign can result in thinking it's how to repair as opposed to how to sell.

Email support@mwomercs.com and explain. I think everybody gets one "get out of heck free." Your c-bills are going to drop off sharply, you probably want that mech back (Jenners rule)

Coulda hurt worse - least the Jenner is as expensive to replace as some other mechs. :)
Jenner is a good choice though - lot easier to learn in than my choice, IE the commando ;)

Specifically here on the right hand side.

Torso twist, pitch, analog throttle and turn.

But yeah. Just 'cause Jenners go from being shiny and new
Posted Image

to having their paint all scratched up doesn't mean you have to fix 'em. ;)

Make sure not to sell any future mechs until you really get tired of them.

After all it's sometimes fun to have a showroom (some recently never before shared rigs/paints).

I'm going to submit a new definition of 'help' to Webster, along the lines of 'opportunity for Koniving to show off his 'mechpr0n gallery' ;)

To the OP, sorry to hear about your Jenner. Are you planning on staying in a light mech still? Or are you thinking of another weight class instead?

Hopefully if you email support, they can undo your mistake for you.

A word on joysticks: be sure you have a zero-order joystick, or you will have a difficult time keeping up with other players. What this means, in 500 words or less, is that you want your point of aim move to a point on your screen when you move the joystick, rather than just being pushed in the direction you're holding the stick. So, if you move your joystick halfway from center to the left, your point of aim will move halfway from center screen to the left edge of your monitor.

This is all explained in greater depth here, but bears mentioning to anyone wishing to use a joystick to play the game.

I wish these joysticks were easier to find.

So do I - I personally find the mouse to be a more intuitive interface, but it would be nice if my teammates who do like sticks could get good ones more easily. :(

I think it's because they're so much more difficult to manufacture, and I strongly suspect that a far smaller proportion of gamers use sticks than use a mouse.

Totally random, but threw up the vids mentioned in the first post.

Also for future reference to anyone, always bring the right ammo. I just brought an AC/5 Locust into a match with 2 tons of AC/2 ammo. As you can imagine despite surviving I was the epitome of useless.

My favorite is when I mix up the SRM ammo. Which I've done more times than I can count. Serious bummer when I'm hunting Light mechs!

This is most important if you are using only a joystick and throttle for control. A bunch of us have been using a joystick & mouse, where the joystick is programmed to act as throttle and turning, and the mouse handles pitch and torso twist. It's a fantastic blend - you get the analog joystick control for your movement, and the pin point mouse accuracy for your aiming. The zero-order thing isn't as important with this setup.
