AWS 9M

*Please note this is my most preferred way to play this Variant. I will have other Awesome that fulfil other roles. The potential of all Awesome will not be utilizes till you achieve double basic efficiency.

My Builds:(Click the links)
-Preferred build x3 PPC, standard engine

-XL engine build if you must

After trying many different builds, the stock build has got to be my favourite build that keeps this mech unique from the rest of my Awesome. The key to playing this mech is not to exchange fire while tanking damage head on in return.

-Positioning and constant movement are your best friends. Use your speed (71.3kph) to your advantage and play as an aggressive support. What this means is flank, shoot and repeat.

-I love using a standard engine because anything that allows you to stay alive a little longer will only aggravate the enemy.

-Remember you will only have 2-3 alpha (depending on the map) before overheating.

-In prolonged engagements, Always use chain fire and remember to focus certain components like right or left torso.

-Resist the Urge to fire the medium laser, you will be more damage and heat efficient if you only use the ppc’s.

-Lastly know your ppc effective range.
0-90m: deals 0 damage.
90-540m: deals full 10 damage
540-1080m: deals diminishing damage

Some of my AWS 9M matches

Damage is not very very high but that is because I focus critical components.

Always fun to see people making use of stock builds.

Fun but still useless until there is a Stock only Match Maker. Even then it will be horrible with any mech having Stock DSHS being preferred. Better to have a 3025 MM! SSHS, stock weapons no ER, UAC, Streak... no upgrades at all (FF, Artemis, DSHS, ES), standard engine sizes no engine upgrades, as for modules and piloting skills I'd also say NOPE but maybe they could be included.

Don't you know, stock 9Ms are OP? 3 PPCs are ghost heated!

that's why you need to know how to play your build.

"-Remember you will only have 2-3 alpha (depending on the map) before overheating.

information is ammunition.

I think you missed the sarcasm regarding the idea of having to play around a silly mechanic to operate a stock 'mech.

i run my 9M in a similar manner...

3xPPC / SSRMS / Med Lazors / XL385 / BAP

fun build... fire the boobie PPCs separately from the ARM PPC to avoid ghost heat...

I was inspired by the stock Awesome to build a Battlemaster with 3 PPCs, and I expect it plays very similarly!

it might play better since you can mount the ppc's higher on the torso.
maybe not better but easier? or has different advantages?
you know what im saying ;)

Not too bad. Honestly I'd take the XL engine one, and swap the MLs for for a few streaks, the engine size a tad bit smaller to accommodate that and the BAP. Then roll with it.

Ghost heat against 3 PPCs is actually just a joke that you can brush off like a whining chihuahua. Compared to MW3's instant shutdown for all 3 PPC alpha strike rigs, this is a cake walk.

But if you're worried about ghost heat, rapid chainfire can work. As can swapping the arm PPC for a large laser (you can fire 2 PPCs and an LL at the same time without any punishment).

My son was running a 3 PPC 1 Gauss build last night in a Battlemaster. It's a much better mech than the AWS in both of our opinion. He was actually sitting here giggling at the damage he was able to lay down with it consistently ;)
