Hpg Map Damage Notification Sounds

However, taking away ALL audible sources of damage notification on yourself is a huge issue.
You have no idea what's hitting you, no idea of where as you have no audible cues.
Unless you are being hit by a single target, the red icon for direction of damage is hardly useful compared to audible feedback on location.
Please consider either fixing this if it's a bug, or adding in some subdued sounds similar to the firing noises for weapon hits also.
Cheers!

I also noticed that the alarm sounds are dampened on this map. They should really be the same as always, since they originate right where the pilot sits.

Cool immersion feature. Thanks

I love it and I want to play on it all the time, every time, with all my 'Mechs... Now my only wish is that the Gravity was ever so slightly lower, perhaps .8g instead of 1g. It is a moon after all.
And watching an Atlas go full Mary Poppins status off a cliff would be funny as hell.

Sound doesn't travel through vacuum, this has been proven. PGI got this one right on the money and it's a refreshing change of pace compared to the usual fare, bar the gravity (then again, with moon gravity, tripping in a Light would mean you end up achieving orbit

Yes, but the thread is not about the general weapon sounds being muted -- that is fine. The issue here is, you get no audible notification when your mech gets hit. Which is inconsistent with you hearing your own weapons firing. Since mech structure should carry all of those sounds equally, there seems to be a bug.

Yes, you are right, but what does have it to do with the fact that for me sound is a very important sense? To underline the importance for me, i don't play certain mechs because their engine sounds are so irritating that i am not able to concentrate.

As for the thread, valid point, and it should be looked at for a quick hotfix ASAP.

Because ruining the feel by adding in all sounds, completely un-muted, in space of all places is... ridiculous. It's going to sound like a d**k move, but deal with it. It's a moon, science and logic says sound can't travel on it unless being transferred through a solid object.
Nothing you can do about it, nothing should be done about it.

Talking about realism when it comes to si-fi? Reminds me of all those discussions in so many other mmo's that wizards shooting fireballs out of their hands should do so much more damage because it is more realistic.
In one point you are definitely wrong though. I can do something about it, and that is giving my feedback.

Exactly, you get it. The sounds your pilot hears should not be effected. Anything in the cockpit - vibrations translated through the air in the cockpit etc should all function. Warning sounds are sirens inside your helmet / cockpit. Again, shouldn't be effected.

This is true for sounds in the vacuum of space yes. The issue here though is that there is no vacuum inside your mech. To be even slightly realistic (not to mention how important this feedback is for gameplay) your cockpit should not be effected.

Granted, sounds would still be affected, so all the "should only be able to hear your own weapon fire and anything impacting your mech, your mech's footsteps, and any cockpit sounds" comments are things I can totally agree with.
Just wanted to clarify that it's not a moon, and it isn't 'space' or a 'vacuum'.

But there is no glas in the cockpit, so there is no air inside...

Nothing to complain about regarding sounds in HPG, love it! Looking forward to every drop!

Read the map info again. The atmospheric density is at most 75,000 atoms/cm3 . By comparison, Earth's moon's atmosphere is around 80,000 (if wikipedia is even accurate anymore), and is considered to be a vacuum, or space, for all intents and purposes.
Just wanted to clarify that it is considered "space" and a "vacuum".
On that note, why do heatsinks work on this map? There shouldn't be enough atmosphere for them to function, at least no the same as they do on other maps. It would be pretty interesting to see this map with greatly reduced heat dissipation.

Are you in third person? You don't get any sound when the point of view is outside the cockpit. Inside the cockpit, you hear muted sounds from your own weapons and your footsteps.
