Explain why they should with more than a broad generalization about the Battletech universe?

Your POV effectively neuters every mech that DOES use lasers as primary weapons.

Nope, and if you don't know why, then here is a participation trophy.

Lasers are awesome. They're great. I love them. I use them almost exclusively. I run a 5LL Stalker and a 5LL Bmaster. Feel free to keep cluttering up the forums with duplicate threads. As a matter of fact I think we need at least 10 more threads on this subject. That way instead of only having 3-4 exact same threads on the front page, we can have nothing but the exact same thread on the front page. That'll show PGI. :(

Welcome to someone who is happy to continue to propogate that Mech Sniper Online with ballistic dominance is beneficial to continued game play.

I can only guess easy mode in a zoom module allows him to sleep at night.

Anyhow, fortunately we don't have to accept the arrogance associated with these "definitions" of how he would like to project his opinions onto others. This with the hope that more diversity, opportunity, variance and excitement can be restored to MWO game play.

Offering opinions does not make a thing true, it is hardly objective to simply cast definitions upon others or try to dictate how things are. That isn't the responsibility or privilege of any player.

Disagreeing with opinions should not invalidate my opinion in the process. So we can agree to disagree, the lack of empathy with the OPs postings is that he can believe to invalidate other opinions by providing such "definitions" as some kind of ruling.

So keep your hug for the OP, he will be most likely feeling emasculated when he realises he doesn't have any more potency to his opinions than anyone else.

Truer words were never spoken. I wasn't directing it AT you, I was trying to play off of what you said. I'm tired of having to flip through the first page of the forums just so I can find something other than duplicate threads on ECM, Ballistics, and MM. oh and Clan packs now. I'm getting to where I just post my infamous one-liner and hitting report on duplicate threads. It's just getting ridiculous

Waffling for, then against MWO/PGI/IGP, and constantly changing your position invalidates responses from said responders.

The op is an amazingly in depth post demonstrating a profoundly fallacious understanding of how the game works.

.....snip!......

Because otherwise all you are going to see is mechs that can fit the best amount of ballistics & ppcs the most effectively. Which is what we basically have now.

If lasers were either brought up to par with their PPc and AC cousins, or AC's and PPCS given spread dmg through burst fire or splash dmg to bring them "down" to laser level, then we would have 3 types to choose from.

If Missiles, more specifically SRMS, we brought up to par (hit reg fixes mainly) we would have 4 types......

Do you see ???

Do you see ??

:D :(

the amusing thing is the assumption that im a jump sniper that uses zoom module when the vast majority of my matches are in brawlers using srms and lasers.

so im willing to use my lasers as a supportive weapon with my srms as the primary.

still have a very high k/d ratio
Still able to kill things when needed
quite happy with what I have

The sad part is after looking over the vast majority of people posting disagreement mainly they are those that have already pedaled there own axe to grind many times over and will not be swayed regardless and are simply upset that someone disagrees with them.

Wich is fine since everyones entitlted to there opinion.

Just as much as im entitled to my own. Quite happy with where the weapons are at, srms need better hit reg, few minor tweaks perhaps, but overall really like where everything is at. Truly hope pgi sticks to there guns and are not swayed by whiners.

Its pretty sad when 90% of the posts are "NO YOUR WRONG!" but fail to offer any justification except, "Because I want it that way!"

That said, pretty done with this post at this point since very few on here can actually offer anything remotely resembling constructive thinking.

Player choice, enjoyment and game balance, as it is i love the way PGI implemented lasers, but I'm forced to use auto cannons due to lasers being more of a support weapon: stats, time on target damage spread. lasers take more skill to do full damage.

The game rewards auto cannons disproportional slanting game play particularly for the ac-2. That thing is doing 1929% more damage then the TT version and we are only using 2x armor.

That one weapon underscores how fubarded this game is.

Yep and because a handful of idiots abused something, the rest of us have to suffer. Care to guess who those geniuses were? Definitely not us lowely puggers.

Know what's hilarious? 3 Threads sitting right on top of one another on the forums. Yet we wonder why it might be difficult for players, devs, and new players t find information, form ideas, and enter discussions on the game. Not to mention just finding relevant information on something they're curious about....

Whats the point? Tried to offer "scientific" and objective justification before. Which you simply continue to choose to ignore.

and of course from your own words:

well gamestyle is HIGHLY prevalent towards direct fire and quick fire weapons with the ability to deliver fast damage then get out of the way. High alpha, jump sniping and low heat relatives are king.

So if there is a ruling Meta with direct fire, this surely confirms an imbalance? (Rhetorical)

How convenient an interpretation of that content for you.

But of course no-one elses contribution is therefore of notable constructive content if in opposition despite the fallacies you choose to continue to spew out that people aren't trying to engage in a sensible dialogue with you.

And yet you as well as most individuals don't deny the dominance of ballistic weaponry. Thus denying the opportunity for other play styles to be as viable or competent. The very recognition of the lack of gaming balance.
