Dear PGI

You should just make all weapons have the same range, heat and damage. That way people will have nothing to complain about and you wont have to change the weapons characteristics every month. Why should players have to think for once and come up with new load outs to counter balance the "meta" (pretty sure people are using this term wrong) or "cheese" builds of the moment. When will it end?

Nerfs are okay in some situations if you are comparing weapons to a baseline, and don't want the TTK to be too low compared to that baseline, but in the case of today's patch it was a fairly stupid nerf. It doesn't really do much, and it was inflicted on a weapon that was never overpowered (the AC/10) and one that is fairly debatable (the AC/20). And the nerf was directed at the entirely wrong issue in the first place.

But umm, players 'think' and come up with new metas. Then players complain on the forums that there is a new meta and demand a new nerf and it seems MWO responds with too many nerfs.

The truth is that MWO is running out of loadout options. I think we are down to AC2's and Medium Lasers now as the new meta. That's sad because what makes MechWarrior great is the numerous effective changes Mechlab should offer. But for that to happen you have to stop calling anything that works the new meta.

AC/2s are not a part of the meta, because their damage is not frontloaded. PPCs are still the energy weapons of choice, and we'll have to see what happens to ballistics (we'll probably see a lot more people using 2 AC/5 to go with their PPCs).

They are already doing this. What I'm saying is that the number of people doing it will probably increase as a response to the projectile speed reductions for the larger ACs (the poptarts using AC/20 and AC/10 may make the switch to a pair of smaller ACs for accuracy reasons).

You must be the only person happy with the game lol. Im happy to see changes and if everything was perfect I would still want to see changes as people need to get out of their grove.

They already do and I have for a long time. Dual AC5/UAC5 with dual PPC is not uncommon. It certainly isn't OP either. especially if a group has the notion to make the mech prime target.

its not a nerf, its a return to the old stats. the extra speed wasn't needed anymore with the other fixes, it also helps desynch it from the ppc speeds, which is a benefit everyone can use. you don't even need to adjust your aim more than a millimeter with the slower projectile speeds at the optimal ranges. ppl worry too much their cheese builds wlll be broken before they ever load in and try them. ac20 still clubs 170kph baby seals with minimal effort. I easily g0t 2-3 kills per match today after the patch

Really? And who would you name as a succesor? If you want to brawl...my money is still on the AC20, if you can only pick one :P

I have an AC20 mech but either Dual UAC5 or Gauss gets way more use on my mechs. :o

If it has to be one its the Gauss Rifle, too damn deadly!

I don't actually think AC20 was ever OP. Guess the hate for AC40 is still strong.

Sadly folks don't appreciate the fallout from their incessant drive for weapon balance...

Pure hyperbole but folks won't be happy until the only difference between a PPC and a sLas will be the particle effect. :P

The Nerf was totally unnecessary. I thought the weapons had finally reached a pretty good balance. I haven't heard any complaints recently about any weapons being OP. Now lights get free reign as people get use to the new ballistics speed. I cant hit a spider or jenner for spit with how slow these projectiles are now.

Practice. I stripped a jager and made a boomjager just to practice a bit...2 games and smoked lights were back on the menu.

I do find it interesting that the Pendant Posting Police seem to have simply liked this thread and not applied their adopted standard of trying to remove what could be considered as repeated subject content cause it contains the word "nerf" in it.

Always useful to demonstrate a double standard when trying to control things, well done.

(I'm happy for freedom of expression to continue as needs and moderation to be concerned about posting behaviours however, not players)

Psst... the post is a quaint humorous joke!
