I STILL have not seen any screenshots of it happening in any other area or map for that matter....

I guess one small example in a specific location on a specific map is now evidence of "See? It's horrible. It prevents me from playing the game! (If I'm standing in this one spot on this one map)"

Bryan Ekman@bryanekman 21. Jan.
We're looking into a toggle for the cockpit glass for video creators. Also, we plan to allow more camera controls with priv matches. #mwo

You jsut described 90% of the posts on here

it's easier to jump up and down and look like a child throwing a fit and rant about how "bad" PGI and MWO are. As opposed to reading, or understanding that you're not the only person playing this game with an opinion, but I digress...

Seriously, the only place I've seen that kind of glare is on HPG in a few select areas at a few select angles. It's not hard for a reasonable person to understand that the other 99.99999999% of the time it simply doesn't look like that

If it would change something or the posts would be constructive,ok but they scream and cry now about every lil bulls...t. My unit has a really good Video project temporally and we didnt managed to finish as the Cokpit glass came in. But hey,our member asked kindly Bryan on about the problem Twitter and had immediatly a answer.. Feedbacck can work without cryin, trollin and call PGI As.....es and Bi..es and many more what i saw. Badest thing i saw was that someone said in Forums here "im goin to kill your Familly!" Thats a thing, where i ask my self, are they normal?

I get responses from devs on a regular basis on twitter. I also don't post "You suck, I could do it better, I'm paying your bills, you should listen to me because I won't spend money until you do exactly what I say" rants either though.

I've found the glass harmful at worst, and useless at best.

Let me clarify. I got a headache within the first few moments of playing with it. Now, I get headaches looking through my dirty glasses. Which is why I cleam them once a day. Now. Why would I want to subject myself to straining through my glasses, at my screen, through "cockpit glass", to the enemy mech? It hurts.

If this isn't the case, then my brain has figured out a way to completely ignore the glass so it (brain) doesn't hurt itself.

If I need to ignore the glass, then the glass didn't need to be placed there in the first place.

Anyway, it seems glass wil be around for the long run. So why not let people like me turn the glass off so we can continue to enjoy playing (and hopefully not just so people can take videos. I want to play the game normally without glass.)? This way the people who really want immersion can still have it, and those who are not finding it satisfactory turn it off.

-----------------------------

Can't remember where I read it, but I thought the cockpit was just a lighter armored section of the 'Mech that had a display screen for the pilots. The display screen tinted the lasers so the pilots could see them, as lasers in-universe behave like real world lasers - they're invisible. Anyway that's why I thought the mechs didn't have glass and the pilots look through screens.

Battlemechs in battletech were not drive-by-wire. They had cockpit windows. The "glass" is a carbon fiber-steel compound IIRC.

I like the glass. I noticed it at first but now i just look "passed" it like I do with a RL car windshield.

I would also like to complain about wildlife and mobile objects in the game.

Shooting at birds, sheep, tumbleweeds and falling objects is not funny. It is a waste of ammo.

Seriously the gecko that randomly scrabbles across the cockpit window in Canyon? How is that supposed to help?

That family minivan trying to get to safety in River City? Once some {Dezgra} tried to step around it to let it by and he wound up scratching my paint!

Please stop wasting time on this fluff and work on things that actually matter!

They actually had hull mounted cameras wired into a helmet mounted HUD as well, via the neurohelmet.

In addition to the cockpit window, or in place of it?

It definitely shouldn't be a toggle. I fail to see the competitive disadvantage when everyone has it... I certainly enjoy it. I can't wait for these same MLG complainers when they implement more immersion ideas. IE side effects of heat, mech slowing down slower torso twist etc. Should be fun, and we'll be reading the same threads.

As someone who has played in comp before, I can tell you now, aside from the obvious fringe cases (bad spots in HPG manifold, terra therma, and tourmaline) cockpit glass isn't an issue. Additionally, PGI has already stated they will be tuning it for the problem areas.

my main concern is we need a toggle in private matches so we can continue to make awesome videos.

Not a fan of the Green effect on the cockpit glass. And for me it is clear for the 1st minute of play then it becomes extremely thick and noticeable on all the maps except the snow covered ones.

People are overblowing this, it's not as bad as people say it is.

Apart from the fact people have stated they will leave the game if they can't turn it off from the 4th feb now if they play ourely on a free then the games not any worse of apart from :-

match maker will fail even more the ELO spread will be even larger..

now if enough people leave that happen to be spending customers not only do you have all the above negative effects, but PGI get less finance which means..

Maybe an engineer leaves after a pay cut, maybe developement slows down even further, and worse of all the gerbils making the match log in servers work get less nibbles

Actually me won't I'm all for mech slow down, I want ammo explosions caused by excessive heat,(this should have been in ages ago)

What I don't want are people quitting the game and causing more match balancing problems and slowing down developement futher because less money goes to pgi.

and thats what going to happen if its not fixed someway because it gives people a choice of stop playing or have the game damage eyesight.

older star league, unseen etc etc had clear view windows which darkend when energy weaons went of the 'newer' that's newer pre 3050 mech designs didn't have clear screen they had sensors which built up a picture in the neuro helmet and depending which book/manual your read it projected on a screen inside the mech
