So I've been lurking for a while on the forums and really just come back after a long break (also realized that there's posting restrictions... I can't post new topics anywhere else =\ ). I've never been a metagame player. I know it sounds bizarre and stupid to many, but I play video games to experience this thing called... Fun.

How do I have fun? By making as insane a build as possible and going into matches with it. LRM100 Artemis Stalker? Yes. 6 AC/2 or 4 UAC/5 Jaeger? Yes. 7 PPC Battlemaster? Yes. 2 AC20 Cicada? Absolutely. Yes I know, many people in this community think that's atrocious. Not only have I been hated on and ridiculed for it, but even on multiple occasions been team killed for my trouble by people who refuse to let me play "such a ****ing stupid build" to use their words.

That being said, despite the community's large number of bad apples and their attitude problems in game, I know there's plenty of people here who are still cool. So I turn to you now and ask...

What other completely insane builds can you suggest for me to try in my eternal quest for more dakka dakka? I'm especially partial to ballistics, but any build that would get at best a: "You're insane" response from most people will do. :P

Can you make Gausszilla? Remember that mythical quad Gauss Rifle toting monster always lurking in the shadows of rec.games.mecha?

Are there any assaults with ballistic hardpoints in both side torsos and arms (with enough slots for a Gauss)?

<edit> Just looked through Smurfy's. Unfortunately the answer is no. QQ </edit>

I thought this would be about ideas for putting in new weapons... but alas, the handy dandy timeline prohibits all that could, you know, make the game more enjoyable.

Try this, it even has armor, jump jets and should not overheat at all http://mwo.smurfy-ne...fc01853be36af25

Actually, I have a question. Have you Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?

Akerlof, believe me I would if I could. Currently, there's not even a single assault that can carry more than 2 U AC5s let alone more than 2 AC20 or Gauss Rifles. Four or five (always thought Gauszilla was 5. Fitting 4 into an Annihilator is easy) is impossible. Especially with Ghost Heat, it makes the use of mechs like the Bane/Kraken which is a giant ballistics boat designed to carry 10 AC2s and 4 Machineguns impossible to use. But yeah, LulnRei... I actually want to try that. Gonna give it a go tonight.

The quad UAC5 Jager is where it's at. You are virtually guaranteed a kill before someone looks at you and you blow up.

Holy Mother of God!

I'd wet my pants if that came over the ridge behind me!

I hate you.

Lol.

Now I'm thinking maybe I will try Jager's someday?

Of course, if anyone SEES you, you're toast, but....

I find a certain irony in this. That's...stock armor for a Jager S. It really is. That's what a jager's armor is supposed to be. o.o

Which is about right...just like the Mech Who Must Not Be Named which inspired the Jager in the first place. Massive firepower but no stamina.

Wow, there's some really amazing builds here I want to try. Thanks for the input everyone. If you've got any more let me know. I took the next to no armor XL 100 dual guass Blackjack into a match last night. Was fun as hell and even lived to tell the tale and got 2 kills. I'll be going back to the Quad AC5 Jaeger next. Tried it once and didn't get much fun out of it. Let's see if I get better luck with those damn weapon jams.

Oh I almost forgot one! Triple Gauss!

Small problem with it though, currently it requires the cash-only Muromets.

Great thread mate!

I feel you pain in the pursuit of fun.

I run a spider with two ERPPC, and I love it, but some folks just cant let you alone, especially after they die and are riding shotgun in the mech with.

Seriously team-kills are bad enough, but it blew my mind when one of my dead teamates started giving my position away in chat just because my build was "stupid" and "noobish" and "pointless".

I love this game, but man sometimes I wish I could kick some know it alls in the balls.

2xERPPC, with ECM, jumps, and top speed of 97k super super fun

That is a hard build to run. It's like the Gauss Spider.

I tend to prefer 2 ER PPCs on a 35 tonner like the Raven or Jenner. That's a difficult order to use on a Spider.

But if your accuracy is anything like mine before the lag compensation craziness... Then who cares what they say?
